Will adding 1/4" extension change character of the shaft?

E.g. change "feel" of butt flex?

Feel of head weight goes down, equal to 1.5 SWP or average 3 grams, if you notice any difference to feel, it would be from lower head weight, not the shaft. Set a tape on the grip like 2/8" was cut off, lower your hands to the new play length and test that club. What you feel now is how both head-weight and shaft will feel compared to now. When we go up in play length, its the other way, like you added 3 grams head weight.

That's good advice. So in my case since I'm considering lengthening by 1/4" I should add tape to head first and see how that feels. Also ideally measure effect on SW

    Would ask why extend 1/4"?

Its a setup thing. I tend to stand a bit taller at address. My wedges are both 1/4" long already. Bending that 1/4" more from waist makes me uncomfortable.

Make two marks on one of your grips with a Sharpie. Exactly 1/4" apart.

You'll see that is a very, very small amount. The difference in length of your 7-iron and 9-iron is a full inch, usually. If you can swing both of those clubs fine then obviously 1/4" isn't going to matter at all.

    1pt bitter beer
    every 6 hours.
    1 ten-mile walk every morning.
1 bed at 11 sharp every night.
And don't stuff your head with things you don't understand.”

I know how long 1/4" but it works for me....all falls into place at that length

anything less than a 1" extension will not change how the shaft feels and/or performs. At least not for most mortals.
