not excited anymore watching golf on tv for the rest of the year..

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that golf on tv is no longer exciting now that all 4 majors are done??

.....of course there is still the Tour Championship , Fedex Cup and The President's Cup for the real hard core golf addicts but after playing, reading, and watching this game for the past 61 years (and I was a real hard core golf addict for most of those years) it is only the Majors that excite me nowadays...and--of course--watching Tiger contend when he plays...

..and watching the senior Majors have no attraction for me either and am only mildly interested in the LPGA majors but would rather watch them than the seniors..

oh well...I can always watch replays of the Masters..

..and that's considering my cable provider shows all the majors live including seniors and womens, all PGA tour events, a lot of the LPGA tour events plus some European and Asian Tour events either live or slightly delayed---the Golf Channel is not yet available from them..

I watch golf every week. I do not need some trumped up highly marketed reason to watch. I truly enjoy it no matter who our were they are playing. I would even watch the kornhole ferry events if they were more regularly televised.

I pretty much only follow golf and baseball, and I am only 40...

I need a life.. haha.

...I think that's my problem...the players now are all so good and strong that nobody really stands out like Jack and Tiger during their primes..

.....they are all capable of winning and that's why we have a lot of different winners and many first time winners too..

and some even win after being on tour less than a month!!

when that is the case the event becomes the important ingredient in sparking my interest and the lesser events just don't cut it for me anymore..

Absolutely. The tour tv bubble is close to bursting. The parity will kill it.

If there is PGA Tour Golf on the TV over the course of a weekend, I will almost certainly catch some of it but I must admit that the amount of golf that I have watched this year has been significantly less than it has been in years gone by.

For my money, there has been precious little in terms of real drama this year. Perhaps my years of being younger and watching Tiger have spoiled me but it’s just not been the same. The quality of the coverage that is provided also leaves a lot to be desired off. The feed that Sky Sports gets from the US simply seems to be getting worse and worse and it is making the whole thing almost unwatchable at times.

I have said it before. I feel like the pond is turning over for lack of a better term. There are old guys trying to hang on and there are some young and exciting players that will be fun to watch the rest of the year. Some of them need to make some money fast to earn their cards and that is worth watching.

I'd agree that without drama there is less incentive to watch. Nothing better than it being really tight on Sunday and even going to a playoff... that attracts eyeballs. Otherwise golf is always something that's been great to have on in the background. Also agree that the US broadcast product is really becoming unwatchable--- too many commercials, too many broadcast personalities with lots of babbling and lacking substance. Sadly the focus on TV $$'s is damaging the product.

The President's Cup is usually a bore. Over-hyped, and no where near as exciting as a Ryder Cup.

They should kill it, and have the Rest of the World play the winner of the Ryder Cup every other year.

This sounds like personal problem. I mean major season is over, though last year this when the season got really good. Bryson going lights out week 1&2 and then Tiger at tour champ.

The Fed Ex Cup is a load of crap. Just a made up money bags tournament with no history. Once the 4 majors are done golf is boring to watch. Switching the PGA to May was an awful decision. Switch it to September if you have to move it at all. The PGA is the worst major as it is and moving it cheapened it further. The year 2000 schedule was the best schedule. The Fed Ex Cup should be scrapped imo.

I think I'll watch the next two LPGA majors, Tour Championship and President Cup. I might watch few Sunday PGA telecasts if someone interesting is around the lead.

College and NFL football is coming up and I can't wait to watch them.

We shall see how this handicapping works. If your favorite guy goes into the last event down 6 shots I bet it’s a different tune when he shoots 65 to a 68 and loses.

I pulled up the European Tour schedule because I was curious. Not great courses (save The Old Course) but they go into November. They also have the luxury of going into the southern hemisphere to South Africa.

If there is another WGC event in China at the end of October, how are/will the US-based PGA Tour guys stay sharp if the PGA Tour season is over end of August?

I am looking forward to seeing Royal Melbourne on TV.

I very seldom watch a lot of golf during the season here in NJ. Why? Because it's nice out and I'd rather play or go do something else. I'll probably pay more attention to the "playoff" events simply because it won't be up against the football season. However, that handicapped Tour Championship isn't sitting well with me.

I believe alot of folks incl myself just consider the FedEx as a corporate sponsored money grab. It's free $ in the WGC's and the last 2 playoff events.

I'm fairly sure someone like Brooks Koepka won't put in the same effort at this week's WGC or in the playoffs as he did during the 4 Majors.

> 3M tourney was the best of the year IMO with an excellent final round. Penultimate group with an eagle on 18 to take the lead, final group with eagle on 18 to win. Tournaments do not have to be majors to be exciting. Definitely more exciting than the last 27 holes of the British Open.

I agree and the problem with these lesser events is you never can tell if there is going to be an exciting finish like the one in the 3M unless you've been watching it live at least on the last day and for me I just don't do that as much as I used to anymore..

anyway this is just me ranting..

I respect all those who still like watching all the golf---I was like that too many years ago!!

I really don't care if they paint the fairways purple and orange or even if I have to go to the Fedex Tracking website and enter a code to find the leaderboard, but they really need to get the sponsor's name off the year-long Cup.
