Gulf shores area August

Have played Kiva Dunes, Peninsula, Cypress Bend, Cotton Creek and will play them again, any recent course conditions? Also want to try Gulf Shores GC and Rock Creek this time, any recent course conditions on these? Not sure there's any other courses worth playing? Will be there first week in August

Personally I enjoy Gulf Shores GC & Rock Creek more than the others. GSGC has tee times on golfnow for $25-$40 most of the time which is easily the best value in the area. The few times I’ve played GSGC the conditions were almost as nice as Kiva and for a quarter of the price it’s definitely the right play if you are on any kind of budget.

I absolutely love rock creek. I’ve lived in New Orleans for most of my life with courses that have zero elevation change so any time I get more than a 5ft downhill/uphill shot opportunity I salivate. Rock Creek has some unbelievably fun holes with surprisingly dramatic elevation changes in an area that is mostly flat.

Not a fan of Peninsula or either course at Craft Farms honestly. The only other courses in the area I’ve played are Lost Key and Magnolia Grove. Magnolia Grove is the RTJ Trail site in Mobile about 45min to an hour away from the beach. If you are one of those people that get way to worked up over a bad score don’t play Lost Key, it’s better known as “Lost Ball” and for good reason.

Was last there in late May so I wish I could give you a more recent update. Kiva, Mag Grove, Rock Creek & GSGC were all in great shape.

My dad lives down there and played Rock Creek last week and Craft Farms several times throughout the summer. He said both were in good shape.

I go down ever October and we usually play Gulf Shores Golf Club at least once and usually somewhere else. I’ve never seen Gulf Shores GC in bad shape and it’s a fun layout, but I can’t speak for August conditions. Soldier’s Creek is a fun layout too...I’d rate it a step down in condition from the other courses (at least the last time I played it), but I enjoyed it.

Peninsula and Kiva Dunes have always been in good shape too. It really is an underrated area for golf.

interested also. Heading down this week. Have played Kiva and Peninsula and thought both were very nice in the past. Interested in Gulf Shores Golf Club of Craft Farms. Should I try one of those or stick with what I know is good?

Reviving an old thread ... wondering if anyone has current conditions input on Craft Farms and Gulf Shores Golf Club? May hit up one of those next week while in the area.

Also, I've played Craft Farms twice, but can never remember which course I played which time (I actually think it was the same one). Anyone have a recommendation between the two?

Just played Craft Farms Thursday. Cotton Creek was in good shape, greens smooth and rolling well.
