Is this fake/counterfeit?

I just found a Nike VRS Covert 3-wood as follows. It looks okay. It was new-old-stock and still in its plastic wrap. I was quite suspicious at first because the finishing quality of the crown really made it looks cheap. But it costs peanuts, so I don't really mind at all. The club comes with Mitsubishi Kurokage shaft and Nike-Golf Pride Tour Wrap, along with the original headcover. There was a serial number on the hosel as well.

However, after I took it to the range, I realised that the club was so harsh and punishing. It felt terrible. It sounds terrible. Even if I am hitting it right on the sweet spot, there was no feedback at all. I've tried other fairway woods such as Taylormade, Tour Edge, Callaway, Adams, among others, but this is the worst of all.

So, is this a fake/counterfeit club? Or, I was just out of luck got the defect product with poor quality? Or, perhaps I don't have enough ability to hit the club properly? :)

Why fake a club that didn't cost much in the first place? With the prices going for PXG and higher end models from the likes of Titleist, Callaway, and TM, theres a possibility it becomes an issue with those however. At least in guitar world for example the $2k-$3k price point is where knock offs are being sold online. Sometimes without the buyer knowing.

It looks real to me. If someone told you that it felt awful because those clubs were garbage in the first place, that person would be attacked by the Nike fanatics. So I will refrain from saying to too.

If Nike clubs were ever desirable enough to the point they would be counterfeited, Nike would still be in the hard goods biz. Your description of how it looks/plays tells you why they aren't. And I don't give a damn what any of the Nike honks would say about that.

Looks real, its certainly the shaft and grip they had on the non Tour Covert 2.0, although I thought the shaft was heavier than 60g for the fairways. Surprised you find it that bad, it got pretty decent reviews when it came out. Have you checked swing weight and total weight to see if its in the ball park?

Thanks. I'll check the length and swing weight of the club. I'd also perhaps regrip it with Tour Velvet or MCC that I am fond of.
