I didn't realize that the venue was the same as where Ariya won in 2016 (different type of course than UK links - I guess this negates some of my complaints about the Scottish coming after the Women's Open). Seems like such a quick rotation of courses, although Royal Lytham & St. Annes has been used in 3 year intervals in the past as well. The Duke's course at Woburn was also used quite frequently before the tournament was elevated to major status in 2001.

Was this also somewhat of a position course off the tee?

I would love to credit NBC, but I'm thinking this is like the US Open and British Open is mandating at least 4 hours of coverage a day for the women written in the contract. I'm also sure cause it's across the pond they like the fact it ends at 2 PM before network coverage that would start at 3 PM if they have the PGA this week. The girls are getting network coverage so there is that.

I'm also thinking that GC is losing rights in Canada next year, GC is really short changing us on total coverage this year for some reason and Whan apologized we got cut off at 11:30 yesterday missing the ending and said it would taken care of in 2020

Oh no, Woburn GC again?! Poor Charley Hull, probably so busy trying to divert all her friends' attention from the big tournament coming up.

I wanted to take Brooke this week but I'm not liking her form, she not playing bad but also not really playing good she's just kinda grinding right now throwing in the "bad round" each week among good ones. I'm gonna go with Ariya, I liked her form at the Evian progressing through the week, she's just gotta eliminate the slow start.

Yeah, I'm liking Ariya this week, too. She's had three straight top 5's, and five top 10's in her last six starts. 'Definitely trending in the right direction. My dark horse pick is Mirim. She finished 2T here in 2016. I certainly wouldn't rule out Jin Young. She's pretty much in the conversation each week it seems. Shanshan is also peaking at the moment.

Yeah, but it's not a links course. I know there are tons of wonderful parkland courses in the UK, but I can't really get excited about them.

You've my sympathy; at least it won;t get any worse when you hit the bottom.

One way or the other, hope the coverage get better in Canada next year. It'll be only fair because Canada has more LPGA fan than the US.

Rain or shine it looks like I will be able to follow the tournament very comfortably and at ease since none of the four women that I love to root against are in the field! In no certain order that would be gimme Lee, Muni He, Jimin Kang and Cheyenne Woods.

I tend to agree, I'm sure there were other considerations with this venue. Its a very accessible location and as a result should get some sizeable crowds. Plus it's not too far away from London which sponsors etc. will like.

A nelly win this week; that'd be a shot in the arm for American women's golf:

"Part of the game within the game for Korda is that she and her sister Jessica have a bet each year on who’ll have the better season. The winner gets an expensive handbag and the loser gets the bill."

Nelly has been all over the map during the majors this season with a 52T, 39T, 3T, and 25T. Jessica has played better with a 6T, 10T, 21T, and 17T. No idea why Nelly struggles in the majors.

No Hyo Joo? She has three top tens in the majors this season with a 6T, 7T, and 2T. Lexi only has two top 10's.

Could it be just age and experience?

Jessica's majors during her 3rd year on tour in 2013; T25, T49, T7 and T25.

Nelly is the thing this week, another article:

[https://golfweek.com/2019/07/30/golf-nelly-korda-evian-birthday-womens-british-open/](https://golfweek.com/2019/07/30/golf-nelly-korda-evian-birthday-womens-british-open/ "https://golfweek.com/2019/07/30/golf-nelly-korda-evian-birthday-womens-british-open/")

"Only Nelly’s bag didn’t make it to the course on time Monday at the AIG Women’s British Open. It was on the luggage truck that got delayed after Lexi Thompson left her passport in her golf bag. Nelly wasn’t too upset about not having her clubs on Monday though, opting for more rest before playing 12 holes on Tuesday at Woburn Golf Club."

The Evian gave me my first long, hard look at Hyo Joo - and this is saying the obvious - but she just didn't have the weaponry of JYK. First there was her shortness off the tee, which put her under immense pressure on a long and soggy course. Despite that she defied gravity for some time, until her bad luck in the bunker. However, after that, she proceeded to 3-putt from the fringe. her putter was getting balky all the while. Then she let her shoulders slump when she was still within reach of the title. Overall, I was a little disappointed with the performance!

I note that IK Kim snuck up to a -7 finish at Evian. Danger signs for her opponents? If this parklands course is all about positioning off the tee, rather than length, she could be a contender.

Then there's the usual suspects. Ariya? If she has a reasonable start, she has to be a good chance. At some point she has to transition in her thinking from "trying to find form" to "play to win". But can she? I still think she is struggling against the pull-hook on every shot, so she is constantly in a discomfort zone.

JYK and Lucky 6. Obvious chances I'd say!

I picked Hye Jin Choi to come along a bit further by now and she hasn't. I'd be interested in any views on where she's at.

Sung Hyun Park will be very interesting to watch. Was Evian scarring? Or will it turn out to be character building? With these girls (and probably all of us guys too), it's all between the ears!

Then there's the rest! Tons of fabulous players with a chance.
