Enough Negativity ! - Let's Hear Good Golf Course Events

Like the title says, we only seen to hear about all the negative things that have happen on the golf course or done wrong by a manufacturer.

Time to hear those good events,,,,,,,,,, I'll start

1) I finished 9 holes, stopped at pro shop for a drink and went on, after reaching the 10th green I realized, NO PUTTER ! so off I went to the 9th green, nothing, my heart sank, my 2 month old Scotty Cameron Center Shafted Beached prototype was gone. I decided to stop at the pro shop to give the guy behind the desk my info. As soon as I said with "I think I left my putter" , he held his index finger up, walked to the office and handed me my putter!! Would not take a tip, just said, payback it back when you have a chance.

Left my wallet at the range once. Got it back with all the contents intact. I soon noticed I was missing it when I got to the car, so only about 5-10 minutes had passed since leaving it behind, but it had already been handed in.

I've lost my swing on the course a few times and have a much harder time getting that back.

There was a time years ago I finished a round and put my bag down outside with others and went inside the clubhouse for a drink. When I came back outside my bag was gone and there was one bag in the group that was sort of similar to mine but not mine. I looked over at the practice green and there was my bag, but no one on the practice green to be found. I double checked the clubs and yep it was my bag. I waited a few minutes to let the guy know he grabbed the wrong bag and still no one showed up, I had to get going so I got my bag, threw it in the car and went home, 1 hour away. It wasn't until later that I found someone else's wallet inside my bag. I was horrified, figured that this guy would think I was the a****** that took off with his wallet and I chickened out on calling him. Instead I packaged up his wallet with a little note explaining what happened, and dropped it in the mail. I always wondered if he was appreciative to get it back or pissed off that someone took off with it in the first place.

A few months back I had just bought a new wedge. I’ve never lost a club or anything before and sure enough I get to the 5th green and realize my new club isn’t in my bag. I backtrack and ask the few groups behind me and look around the last few holes and still no luck. Hoping for the best I went on to finish the front 9 hoping it would be turned into the clubhouse at the turn. I pull up to the 8th green and there was a club laying on the ground. I kid you not, it was the same exact club as the one I just lost. Vokey 56, same grind/bounce/shaft without one scratch on it with the price tag still on it (it had a different grip and finish on it so I know it wasn’t mine). I’ve never been more confused in my life. There wasn’t another group in front of me in sight and I was initially kind of happy that if no one turned mine in I didn’t have to replace mine.

I remember back when I fell in love with this crazy game I was a broke college kid. I looked at a brand new expensive golf club like it was a supermodel. If our house had caught fire, I would’ve made sure I got my clubs to safety before I woke up my roommates. I sat there and realized this club could belong to someone with enough money to buy 30 more of them if he wanted too. But it also could be someone’s who saved up money for months to buy this one club like I used to do back in college. After the lady in the proshop told me no one had turned mine in and I gave my information and described the club I handed her the one I found. She looked at me like I was stupid.

I was hoping for the golf gods to grant me with a few birdies or an ace on the back 9 for being a good person but it didn’t happen. I never found my club and I have no idea what happened to the one I found, but I slept a little better that night knowing I did the right thing.

I have told this on here years ago but here goes a weird one. I returned a found golf ball to a guy one time. I found a Pro V that was personalized with “Hogan Fan”. After the round a spotted a car in the parking lot with a “Hogan Fan” license plate. Walked up to him and said I believe this is yours. The Pro V in my avatar is one I found that says “Short like your pecka”

My wife and I played today. Less than 3 hours for 18 holes. One of the guys in the 3some behind us was a member at the course I used to be a member at. I was a member there for about 8 years, and they closed in 2016. I haven’t seen Mark since they closed. Used to play with him on random weekends. Had a friendly chat with him today. I was on 4 tee, and he hit his 2nd shot on 3 onto my tee box (terrible slice, tee box is 40ish yards right and 80ish yards short of 3 green). Good to see an old playing companion after a few years.

I told my wife on the previous hole (when she commented about how small he was) that it looked like a guy I used to play with. He’s all of about 5’3” and 120lbs soaking wet, and he has a distinctive swing. Turns out, it was him, lol.
