Shipping Overseas ?

I was recently asked if I'd ship a 3 wood to England from the Chicagoland area. Usual shipping here in the states can vary but $12-$15 generally covers it. I guess my question is is the typical shipping of a 3 wood to England going to be a crazy price or is generally not much more than typical shipping here in the states. I intend to box it and have it checked at the post office when I get a chance but looking for insight if it's not even worth the trouble. I believe it gets taxed as well if you don't mark "gift" on the shipping label ? Long story short I guess when I get a price I can negotiate the total price with him but just looking for anything I might be missing ?

Shipping to Canada is a lot more expensive, I can only imagine what shipping across the pond will cost. Best to check with FedEx and UPS as well to see what they can do as well.

It’s been a few years but I shipped a putter to England. It would typically have been around $9 domestic. If I recall correctly it was around $40 to ship it to England USPS. Ask the potential buyer for his address and use the estimator so you’ll have a general idea of what shipping will be.

I wasn’t willing to fudge the customs forms so any additional costs were absorbed buy the buyer.

In the past when I was selling I always specified that cost only includes shipping in CONUS as one can have a pretty good handle on how much shipping cost . I don't shut overseas buys out but I do require them to pay actual shipping. All the carriers allow you to get cost estimate by plugging in destination and a rough package size, and I would communicate to buyer and let them decide. Some oversea buys are very use to the high cost of shipping and any other fees involved so they were OK with it. For example a putter I sold went to Australia and shipping was half the cost of the putter. Buyer had no issue with it because he really wanted that particular putter and he had to pay insane amount for shipping whenever he bought anything, and it was still cheaper than if he bought things locally. I kinda recalling a similar story from someone in UK so be prepared that shipping will be shockingly high.

As far as import tax, technically that is not my problem to deal with, and I have only encountered it for Canada that I can remember of. The buyers I have dealt with were all very nice and sincere so in turn I always marked them as gift on the form so they didn't get hit with additional tax.

Thanks, yes i have the actual address and I'll take it in boxed up to see what the fee is. We have agreed to negotiate the price including the overall shipping. I do typically only sell in the states but he asked if I would work with him trying to get it to Europe.

I'm in Australia and I have purchased off the BST a number of times, if you use USPS the shipping is reasonable. Personally if I am purchasing from the BST I expect to pay a slight premium for shipping but as long as you have a verified address I think you will not have any problems using USPS

As a Canadian buyer, I think I've only got nailed on paying import taxes once in the last half dozen or so things I've bought. CBS is super inconsistent, and it really depends on the entry point if they're gonna bother charging or not.
