Cleveland CBX 2

Hadn't seen any discussions on the new CBX yet so I figured I'd get one started. The new shape of the cavity reminds me a lot of the RTX-3 Cavity back edition.

Awesome, still got the originals 54/58 and they are the best wedges I've ever played. Glad to see the looks improved. From what I read they made some good changes to this line up. Glad they kept the 115 as the stock shaft which feels, performs great. Hope they give the option to customize colors/stamping to if desired. I got my wife a couple of these to in graphite which has been quite helpful.

My 50* CBX is my go to scoring club. Form what I've read they've moved to 3 grind variations based upon the loft.

I use my 49* CBX mostly for full shots and straight forward chipping and pitching. Due to the grind and size I havent been able to manipulate it as much as I'd like around the greens, but it excels at what I use it for. That being said, I'm excited to try the new grinds on the higher lofts. If they have made them more versatile around the greens I'll definitely give them a test. I also read that they have changed the COG to be much farther out on the toe. Previous CBX had moved the sweetspot more toward the middle of the face, and this iteration has moved the sweet spot farther out toward the toe where mid/high handicappers tend to miss.

Cleveland just "gets it" for the average golfer - the first CBX was made for the cavity back iron player and was easy to hit. Now they've made choosing the proper grind simple for us as well by matching it to the loft. Can't wait to try these - my rounds at the beach last week definitely solidified my need to improve in the short game.

Agreed, I wished I had tried their CBX irons as well. Look sharp and would blend well right into the CBX wedges.

That would be cool, but no mention on their site. I’d replace my fairly new CBX’s if they came out with black.

Can anyone comment on how the CBX gap wedge plays in comparison to a set gap wedge?

I'm currently gaming a set of Srixon 565's, which are cavity back irons, all the way down to the set gap wedge. The gap wedge is 50 degrees and I use it more for full swing shots than anything around the green. It does seem a bit chunky to me so I was considering going with a traditional 50 degree wedge instead, but I don't know if I want to go to a full bladed wedge. It seems like the CBX would be a nice segue between the cavity back irons and bladed sand and lob wedges.

On the other hand, I can't figure out if swapping the set gap wedge for the CBX would be a totally lateral move and thus a waste of money. I'm also mindful of the fact that my current gap wedge is in the same shaft as the rest of my irons, which is nice.

I currently play the 565s. I have the original CBX as a 48* bent to 49*. I went with the CBX over a traditional blade 50* because I use my GW for a lot of full swings. When I use it for chips and pitches I don't really manipulate the face much so I don't need the versatility of a blade. (I would have used the set GW, but I wasnt given that option when I purchased.) That being said I don't know that you will gain much from going from the set GW to the CBX2. I haven't ever seen the set GW, but I assume it's something like the PW. In overall dimensions the PW is smaller than the CBX. Topline and sole are both thinner in the PW than the CBX, and it's not by a small margin (relatively). If I were you I'd stick with what you have.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. It seems like sticking with what I have it probably the simplest solution.
