PXG 30-Day Money Back Guarantee

Does anyone have any experience with PXG's 30-Day Money Back Guarantee? I'm interested in trying out the 0811, and while I've purchased clubs on a whim before and sold them shortly thereafter, I'm not above sending a club back for a refund if it is actually that simple and the club doesn't suit me. My concern is that when I called PXG to inquire about the 0811, the customer service person I spoke with left me with no confidence in PXG's employees. Specifically, the guy I spoke with tried to convince me that the Hzrdus Black and Hzrdus Smoke Black are the same exact shafts. When I couldn't convince him otherwise, he told me it would probably be better if I just went to a club fitter and worked directly with them than purchasing through PXG. The fact that this kid was willing to push away a prospective customer worries me.

I'm not hating on PXG or Bob Parsons, as I love the concept of what they are doing and I love that they offer a discount to veterans. But, I also don't want to end up buying clubs from a company that has horrible customer service. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Well, it seems that the rep may have been misinformed on the differences (or lack of) between the shafts.

That said, suggesting you work with a fitter isn't what I'd consider pushing you away. Maybe he sensed that you're particular about your gear and without a custom fit, you'd be likely to send the clubs back, which really is a waste of time and money for everyone.

Of course not being on the call, how things are said can be as important as what is said...

You're blaming them for your stubbornness? You won't notice a difference between those two shafts, if you do, it's in your head.

While not the EXACT same shaft, the profile of the Smoke black and the original Hzrdus black was designed to be the same, with the only difference being "increased feel" from the slight difference in torque. As for head to head performance, there is not much difference in the numbers, and what difference there is easily falls within the margin of error of the "human" swing. So personally I would not come to the conclusion that the employee on the phone does not know what he is talking about.

As for pushing a customer away, I am not sure what your expectations were for a phone fitting. Maybe after you disagreed with his opinion, he thought the best thing would be for you to see for yourself. At any rate I would think that most "phone fitters" would suggest a proper fitting in person because that provides the best chance that the customer will be happy with the equipment.

As for the customer service aspect, personally I had a great experience with my PXG fitting, and as a comparison my previous fitting was at Cool Clubs in Scottsdale, AZ. I think my PXG fitter was just as good if not even more thorough through the fitting process. Overall PXG customer service has a great reputation, and one of the guys in my league purchased almost a full bag and ended up returning the hybrid and putter with no issues. I really don't see any reason for concern if you really want to try the equipment.

This is the internet and the written word, which I know can come off the wrong way. I wasn't meaning to imply that PXG is a bad company or that people should boycott them. I simply want to know if anyone has had experience with their money back guarantee in the event that I don't like the club. The impetus for my question is the interaction I had with one of their reps. And, maybe it didn't come off as I intended, but the rep I spoke with was convinced that the Hzrdus Black didn't exist and that the Black and Smoke Black were the same exact shaft. He said the only "Black" Hzrdus shaft ever made by Project X was the Smoke Black. My concern with customer service like that is that it makes it seem like the company doesn't have knowledgeable employees, and these are the same ones I'd likely be dealing with if I had an issue with a club. Also, I'd venture to guess that most people that have swung both the Black and Smoke Black notice a difference. Andd, for me, at least, it is a pretty noticeable difference.

Yes, because that is exactly what I said and implied. ::eye roll::

I don't want to try it out just to send it back. However, their mobile fitters don't carry the shaft that I use and they don't have shafts in the size that I use, so having a mobile fitting doesn't seem like it will do much good. So, the only real way I can test the club is to order one to my specs and hope for the best. If it doesn't work out (which I'd know well before 30 days), I'd much rather be able to send it back for a full refund than try to sell it and get 75 cents on the dollar.

Might as well buy one for 75 cents on the dollar here on the forums.
