My swing evolution... YTube

Recommended Posts

I have watched a few of this guy's youtube videos. Hes got some decent stuff.

In one of his videos he said that when you look at junior champs, and many pros that alot of them dont even know what EE, OTT, casting, ect even is... They just hit it naturally from a younger age and never really worried about all this technical lingo. That more than anything really got my attention..

The golf swing isnt complicated.. I feel like people are making it sooo complex and are plagued with swing thoughts. Maybe we should just walk up and hit it sometime.

People should have stopped taking that guy seriously when he and Be Better Golf did the vlog of their match and uploaded it on Youtube. I'm only an 8 handicap it looked like I could beat both of them.

you should email him (MSE) and have a match with him and report back.

coming from one of the best junior coaches in the world.

if the golf swing is soo natural and easy then why do you see guys win a couple tournaments and then struggle to make cuts for years to follow?

I remember that. I think they both shot like 42 for 9 holes.

It was ugly in every facet.

I actually genuinely enjoyed some of Devore's stuff on his channel. But I would never take swing advice from him. I think his swing is really ugly and has a ton of flaws. He works on like a million things all the time I've never seen his game make a big improvement.

Doubtful he is going to come all the way out to Alabama to get roughed up by an 8.

It does make me laugh that he gives "lessons" and does instructional videos now, unbelievable that people think that they can give lessons to other people just because he's improved a little bit

I would be curious to hear what his handicap is. I doubt he is much better than a 10. If he is even that good.

Better players like junior champs and pros are so advanced, they haven’t had to worry or think about EE or OTT in forever.

Go to the local muni range and see how well the just walk up and hit it crowd are doing.

Great mindset if you are not a great golfer and have no desire to improve. Just enjoy the course, you can see a lot of it hitting it all over the place. You should watch the latest Como/Golf channel show with Xander, completely debunks the myth that pros dont think mechanics and just naturally swing so well.

By his logic there shouldn't be a coach for any collegiate or professional golfer...but every single one of them has a swing coach. Most of them are making use of launch monitors, slow motion video and mirror work.

Hey OP, if I need to hit a low fade punch shot from under a tree and I've never had instruction on how to do that...how will I know what to do?

Im sure i seen a video from ages ago where he said he shot in the 60's, he does seem to be quite long but not sure how much truth was in that

And even during a tournament when the camera is on them on the tee waiting or before a shot. They’re always working on a feel or a move or something.

Legit 300 yard drives or Paul Wilson 300 yard drives?

You're getting bashed for saying this, but I know what you mean and have always pretty much agreed. The key is learning when you're young. I was a competitive tennis player for a few years as a kid and I can go out after four years of not touching a racket and play 100x better than I can play golf thinking about the game and trying to work on my swing every week for years. It's sickening. :(

I'm not saying pros don't need to ever think about their mechanics or that they don't develop flaws. But when you play as a kid 1) the talented kids self-select, and 2) young brains are like a sponge for learning, and that learning stays with you your whole life.

Yeah I started at 29 so I don't have the luxury of turning back time. With that being said, I'm not at all disillusioned that I will magically find a highly repeatable swing if I just start to walk up and hit it or that really elite pros somehow succeeded with raw talent and feel and don't at all work on their mechanics.
