Is there anyone in your life that either really likes it, or can't stand it, that you play golf?

Some people get lots of support when participating in any sport or endeavor, even become sort of your fans, amongst family or friends who don't play but are glad for you. On the other hand, seems there can be someone who just can't stand it that you play, or take the time or spend the money, or that you're just plain good at it. Do you have either going on for you because you play golf?

If our schedules allow it, my wife enjoys walking the course with me. She's okay with my playing, but doesn't care to learn the game. It's exercise for her and she enjoys the flora and fauna of the park-like fairways. I tried to use her as a "caddie" to pull or return clubs for me, but she didn't like that, so she just tags along. She always seems to be looking somewhere else when I hit a great shot, but is always watching when I shank one.

Nope, I probably excluded those folks from my life when I was about 14. I briefly dated a girl in about 2004 that didn’t like golf, but at first didn’t care that I played. Then she was mad once that I was going to play and I said “Look, I love golf. I’m not even certain that I like you. Pick up your clothes and get out.” This thread made me look her up and she’s a lawyer in Philadelphia now. Dodged several bullets there, thank you again golf.

My wife isn't a fan of the game, and doesn't really care about me playing. But, she knew going in that it was a part of my life, and we make it work.

For some reason the UPS guy is very happy that I play golf and encourages me to leave the house and play golf for hours at a time. My wife is also quite supportive of my golf habit.

I picked up the game at 15 playing often with my dad. It is our time to bond and get out of the house. We still enjoy rounds together every month and I hope to continue that tradition for years to come.
