Your best bet, with the closest to Public Transportation and a decent place to play is William Devine @ Franklin Park. It's about a 5 min walk from the Park entrance to the course. Public Trans drops you off just outside of the park. Other than that, unless you're willing to cab/Uber, not much else that I am aware of.

When are you going to be in Boston, and where are you staying (general area)?

Your best bet is most likely to be to take an Uber to Granite Links.

Besides Franklin Park, you can get to Newton Commonwealth in Newton (end of the Green line at BC), Putterham in Brookline (you’ll need to take a bus from end of the Green line at Cleveland Circle) and Leo Martin in Weston (you’ll need to walk from end of the Green line at Riverside). None of these courses are particularly good - in fact all 3 r pretty bad.

That's a rogue's gallery of golf courses if I've ever seen one...he said he wants to "enjoy the environment"...

To the OP - appreciate that you're looking for some alone time, but I've got a few open spots in foursomes this week and am happy to have you out for the day if the timing lines up. My club's nothing special...but it's an upgrade from the Leo J Martin.

Riverside to Leo J is not an easy walk. It over a mile (20+ min) from the end of the Riverside T-line to the course and you need to cross I-95/128 either at Recreation Rd or Grove St, then basically walk all the way around the course property to get to the Start/Pro Shop. Putterham and Newton Commonwealth also require a hefty walk, 15+ min. Franklin Park is probably the best conditions and easiest walk, but you still need to walk 5 minutes continuous with all of your stuff.

OP you really need to rethink getting to a golf course with another form of transportation if you want to play any of these or a host of other courses within 30-40 min of the Airport.

I would also suggest George Wright, but... walking through (and getting off at) Hyde Park with the clubs... eek. One thing you'd be able to do is walk 1/2 the way on the course instead of through neighborhoods, but it's still a mile. Then again, we're talking about walking a mile like it's a bad thing... how many miles are we going to walk ON the course? ;) (Uber to/from GW would be a good bet though, it's a good course).

Presidents, get off N. Quincy and it's .7 mile walk. Nothing spectacular of a course, but... it's golf and a better neighborhood.

If you take the 50 bus from Forest Hills (orange line) there are stops right before and right after the entrance to George Wright. That side of Hyde Park is also not as interesting as Hyde Park Ave.

100% just Uber to George Wright. Nothing accessible by the T is worth it in my opinion.
