Best ball for......??

garzargarzar Members Posts: 37 ✭✭

I'm 59 and hit it about 205 with driver. I know how to spin it with shorter clubs. Head-speed is about 85. Any input on a killer ball? Like to keep it $35bux and under. Thanx.

Another wilson duo vote. Golf town will sometimes have 36 for $50. They all seem to sink at about the same speed, lol

My uncle in law has a great short game and hits just a little further than you. He plays the Duo Urethane.

Snell MTB or MTB-X, $32.99/doz Dean Snell's company, he has 29 years of golf ball research and development. He was co-designer of the Pro V1, and some other top balls too, so he knows his stuff... I'm 68 and I hit a 239 yard drive and a 235 yarder last week with the MTB black, and I'm nothing special, believe me.

srixon qstar tour is awesome. they're super cheap, have a urethane cover, and compress really well. they can be had customized for 90 bucks for 4 dozen. give em a shot

Srixon Z-star go on sale twice a year for half price, which is $20/dz.

I’ll second the Z-Star. My brother-in-law has a similar swing speed and is very happy playing this ball.

Maxfli Tour, $50 for 2 dozen at GG! I am 61 and play to a 7.8, my swing speed is about 88-90mph and I see no difference in performance when I compared it to the Pro V1.

Snell is supposed to be the spinniest golf ball out there.

Do you like the Wilson Duo Pro better than let's say a Project A or QST?

62 years old and the best all around ball for me has been the QST.

  • BrennanfBrennanf Members Posts: 77 ✭✭✭

Callaway super soft works for me

I haven’t played either of those to be honest, I found it to be most similar to the AVX but a little softer and with more spin on chip shots. I hit the ball pretty high usually and these two seem to fly lower than a PV1 and the Soft Chrome balls. I prefer the color of the Titleist but prefer the cost of the Wilson.

I have similar swing characteristics and I use the Pro V1x - best all around performer for anybody. My golf shop has overrun logo Pro V1's for $3.00 each. For the $35 - try the Titleist Tour Soft (formerly NXT Tour S), another great ball that will stop on the green and perform great. Only problem is that it's shorter off the tee vs Pro V1x.

Do you need higher swing speed for prov1x

The "x" spins less off a driver and goes a little higher. My SS is only around 85 and i hit the X farther the reg. V1.
