Fitting scheduled for 12yo boy - best options for hybrid(s)/wood(s)

My 12yo is getting fit this week for his bday. He is currently in a USKG 60 set with a Cobra F8 driver w/41 inch shaft. His height now falls into the USKG 63 size recommendation so I've used the specs (that I can find) for that set to build out some hypothetical scenarios for his new set of clubs. The USKG-63 clubs are consistently 1/2" shorter than adult irons and I kind of anticipate that being the case with the irons he is fit into it. My hope is he is fit into a good set of irons that are properly shafted and once he outgrows their length/flex they can be re-shafted. My fitter has previously said that Mizuno will re-shaft for $25 per club and since he likes the 919 irons I would expect to go that direction. My question is in regards to the hybrid(s)/wood(s) and what others have done in similar scenarios. It would seem I could either a) buy brand new OEM equipment (based on fitting recommendations) and have them shafted to his specs, or b) purchase new/used previous gen equipment and have them re-shafted. The hope would with brand new stuff is it could be used for years to come and the heads could be re-shafted but I don't know if that is realistic and it seems more like something I'd use as an explanation to my wife to help soften the blow of the price tag.

Generally speaking, re-shafting irons never seemed to make sense to me. So you pay $25 per club plus $30 for the shaft, times nine clubs and you're looking at around half grand. Wouldn't it be better just to sell the old set and use that towards a new one?

As for woods/hybrids I'm a big fan of adjustable lofts for juniors since its very easy to switch out shafts. But again, your junior is already adult height, at which point he doesn't need shorter length shafts.

And the thing about the wife? Just repeat this to her after getting that brand new set.
