Grommets keep ripping out of towels; what to buy?

alephaleph Members Posts: 194 ✭✭✭

After a few washes, just about every logo towel I've had has had the metal grommet start to tear or rip off. Tried putting them in a mesh bag but still keeps happening. What towels are you using that don't have this problem?

I need something I can hook onto the carbiner on my bag, loose "tour towels" I can easily see getting dropped or left behind.

Use the top umbrella loop on the bag.
If you push the corner of the towel through the loop, it'll stay put.

I use the $2.99 towel from IKEA, it has a little loop I use to wrap around a club-head or two. It's also large enough to have a wet side and a dry side.

I do that but on my 4i, which is on a left outer slot. Works great.
The towels you might be referring to are the Club Glove ones that come with an extra pocket sized towel. Love them.

Just drop an alignment stick in the bag and get one of the waffle style towels with a slit in the middle. Put the slit over the alignment stick and let it hang on the outside of the bag. Perfect.

Yup, Club Glove is the answer...problem solved.

I’ve had mine so long now that I forgot what brand it was. But yes it’s the perfect towel as far as I’m
    concerned.

Curious how you're hanging these. I've had the Mizuno tri-folds for over 10 years with metal grommet. I hang them on a carabiner and they get washed after every use and are still going strong...

The "players towel" microfiber with the slit in the middle (plenty of brands out there) or a longer caddie towel you can drape through your sticks is the answer.

I also use the Club Glove towel with the slit in the middle but I run the bag strap on the cart through mine. I also use to rip grommets out.

Just off of one of those wire snowman shaped hooks connected to the carabiner. It's only the plush logo towels from a course's pro shop this seems to happen with. Maybe because the grommet is in the corner rather than centered. Going to start hanging my last good one outside rather than through the dryer.
I have a couple tri-folds and they've lasted countless washes.

Vice towels are waffle-style like a lot of tour towels, but with a loop on the side, rather than a Club Glove style slit. Great choice if you like yours to be attached with a carabiner.

Vice has some great towels that come with a carabiner and sewn loop on the towel. 2 seasons and the loop is holding strong for me.
