Fairway wood build to driver

New to this forum but here goes!

A few months ago I bought a Cobra F8+ 4-5 wood off eBay. It came with an Aldila NV 2KXV Green 75 stiff shaft. I set the loft to 16° and the club quickly became my most consistent and favorite! I use it a lot off the tee as my home course isn't very long and ball flight is usually straight to a baby fade. Grip is neutral.

My driver is a Titleist 917D2 9.5° set to standard loft and lie and is 45". I was fit with a Fujikura Speeder Evo 661 TS stiff shaft when I bought driver at the beginning of last year and have struggled with dispersion and consistency. I had a transition swing fault which I've corrected so miss is now a slice with a neutral grip.

I discovered static weight difference is 25g so bought a couple of heavier CG draw weights 16g & 18g. They've helped a little with feel but slice still creeps in. A strong grip seems to eliminate the slice. I recently tested (only 2 drives on course) a PX Evenflow T1100 White 65 6.0, back to the standard 12g draw weight and strong grip. Results for both were fairways hit with baby fades. Perfect! Or so I thought...

Went back to my old shaft, 18g draw weight, strong grip, same baby draw and fairway hit.

I've read on here that a lot of people enjoy using the same shaft in different weight profiles for their woods. I've been doing as much research as possible but I'm still a bit confused if the Aldila will be as effective for my driver. The Fujikura has a mid bend profile and lower torque whereas the Aldila has a mid-high bend profile and higher torque. The PX is similar to the Fujikura but with a higher bend profile. I think these are correct?

Am I crazy to change driver shafts? Should I just live with having a stronger grip on my driver? Lol

For me personally, shaft is much more about feel/timing than it is about producing certain physical aspects to flight, i.e. launch, spin and so forth.

So if you really like how the 2KNV green feels, then odds are the 65s would work in the driver. You may need to tweak the head a little bit (loft/face angle, adding weight, etc) to get things exactly how you want.

Another consideration I hadn't thought about is the grip size. I think it came with the standard Lamkin R.E.L. Connect in Nardo Grey, .58R core. However the butt diameter on the 2KXV is .640. I'll be testing this build in my driver ASAP!
