Scotty rant. New Scotty T22s Release date 8/16. Profiteers cleaning up.

I was interested in one of the new T22s. I should have known. I placed an order which was confirmed only to get an email later that the store's allocation had been reduced and unfortunately my putter was cut. As I figured, it was too late to order anywhere else. Fast forward to this week. Actually, late last week. These things are showing up a week early and some guys got 2-3 putters and are now selling them +30%-40%. Several guys on Golfwrx have them in BST now for outrageous prices. Its the same thing that happens to most Cameron Club members when stuff is released. I know. I was a member for a year. I work on the computer all day and knew instantly when stuff would get released. I got as far as having items in my cart only to disappear because they were "sold out" before I could check out. Then I look on BST and Ebay and see live pictures of just released items for sometimes $100s more than what they were purcahsed for. I never in the year that I was a member successfully got an item. Sour grapes? Sure. Unlucky? Maybe. But it seems an honest guy can't win. Congrats to the guys who bought them to use or collect. Bad karma to the profiteers! You ruin it for the good guys. Rant over.

Yup, it happens with concert tickets and just about any limited release item. Won’t change until it’s a losing proposition.

Keep an eye out here. I’m sure a good member or two won’t get along with the putter and will sell it for cost. And if they made enough of these the demand will have died in a few months. It’s frustrating but is what it is at this point. Hope you get one.

It is capitalism, but I am not sure I would call it traditional supply an demand.

But yes, it is what it is. Secondary markets are now firmly part of our society/economy. Opportunistic folks will exploit any and every avenue possible to turn a buck

How is it exploitation? That’s a very strong word and don’t think it’s fair to use or be thrown around for overpriced golf clubs.

It’s just good old fashioned capitalism. Same as buying anything else essentially. Ford dealer buys the f150 from ford for a certain price. Then the dealer raises the price to make a profit. What’s the difference?

If you got one and decided it wasn’t for you... doubt you’d sell it for what you paid but you’d prob think it’s right.

The profit on other commonly flipped goods is substantially higher than the T22 line. With a retail price of $599 and sale price of $800, resellers are netting around $100 after adding sales tax from their purchase, PayPal fees from their sale, and shipping. That's more than $0, but 13% profit is not a huge percentage.

I'm not going to debate the morality of flipping because I have no problem with it. If anything, I'd love some products (like the Black/Red Jordan XI's) to be available in high enough quantities to prevent the prevalence of flippers, but that's never going to happen.

Scotty is Scotty because of the resale world. Not that everyone does it, but everyone likes to know that they _could_. You can buy your T22, roll it for a couple years and then sell it -- maybe not for profit since it's used but you're not going to lose your shirt on it. And buying multiples to help offset the cost of the one you keep and play with ... well, that's just smart if you have the patience and the street smarts to do it. Remember, there's also a lot of guys that don't want to get into click contests for items and are happy to pay extra for the convenience of the secondary market.

Just because you don't agree with something doesn't make it wrong.

If you were offered $1,000,000 for your newly acquired T22, would you take it?

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?

Welcome to the real world... it's a world filled with frustration. Poeple with access get things others can't get or can't get fast enough and can charge you a premium on it. It happens with just about anything that's conceived to be limited, shoes, phones, game consoles, etc.

No, I would not.

Let's see, the difference between $999,400 and $200 = ????

Stupid question.

On the other hand, would I flip something for a $200 profit. I personally would not. First, I would not want to tie up $1,200-$1,800. Also, haveing been a frequent buer/seller on BST and EBay over the years, there are just enough bad buyers to know that its very risky anytime there is that much money at stake. I don't mean to imply that a majority of the buyers are bad guys. But, that kind of money tends to bring the bad guys out of the shadows.
