Would you buy a new set before or after winter?

The new irons released have finally overwhelmed me, the 716 MB's can be demoted to back up set but I have a little dilemma...

I live in the UK, if I buy now, ill get a month or two of golf in somewhat decent conditions out of them before a miserable uk winter makes them tatty due to practice and play with gritty mud balls. With this however I get a full winter of practice with them ready for the season ahead.

If I wait and buy late winter I get full spring and summer out of them whilst new and fresh prior to winter battering them but not the upfront practice.

I have a custom fitting tomorrow I know what I'm like though I will probably want to order there and then. Golf clubs are tools and not ornaments after all I guess? Well most models.

Thinking of trying the following any other recommendations for player type irons? I already know my loft/lie/length requirements so really it's more of me using a range of heads and trying out a couple of different shaft options as I want to give the DG X7 a try (currently use C-Tapers).

Personally, I would play with the new set up to the time that winter comes knocking. If playing during that time, on days that you can, then the old set still has a job until spring. Would like to keep the new set as clean and damage free until the good weather.

Get them in your bag as soon as you can. Definitely hit (and enjoy) the JPX 919 Tours. Happy fitting.

T100 are nothing like the others really, and thats a lot of heads to hit. The differencesbetween most of those will be minimal, as with most blades. I just got fit for a set of 620 CB 4-5 and MB 6-PW, prob gonna order them for september/oct. Ready to burn rubber come next march :

What's more important to you, having them in hand now or saving some bucks on them later? Also, would you have buyers regret if a new model came out after winter that you would have liked to try if you buy now?

If you find something you love at the fitting, go ahead. Start your honeymoon with them now, while there's some season left. New releases are so frequent nowadays, I don't think about them any more.

I'm in the UK currently, so understand the weather scenario. I only really started playing this year, years ago I used to play in florida and the weather and courses were pristine there - in the UK not so much. I intend to play in the rain a bit in the winter. I have the time fortunately and don't mind playing alone if I get the urge. I have new clubs coming next week. I have already seen a drop in the number of golfers playing right now at my course and think the further into winter the more empty the courses will get - like I say I don't know I've never played winter golf before but will be this year but it could be a prime period to improve if that's your goal (it's mine)

I've bought before, after and during winter. The during was by far the worst, having to wait 3 months to take them to the course. I'll probably never do that again.

I was facing the same dilemma, in my case trying to decide when to have a full swing fitting and buying new clubs. If you’re not careful, you’ll rationalize that there’s never the perfect time. I was trying to wait until my swing became more consistent, but finally pulled the trigger when work slowed down. Long story short, I have a new set of custom fit clubs, hitting them well and loving them, having a renewed enthusiasm for playing.

No going to give Mizuno mp20’s a try? The T100’s def seem like the outlier on that list lol.

I already bought a new set this year, last year and the previous year. The good news is my swing keeps getting better and which is the reason why I demo clubs when my swing is at its best.

It coincides before the winter.

I live in the desert....so any time is a good time.....

In my experience the best deals to be had on ebay starts around Thanksgiving and ends Feb 28.

Winter is also the time to purchase several putters and work with them on your putting mat indoors.

Personally, going to wait til spring for new sticks. T100s so are the front runners.

Ah the weather in the UK isn’t that bad. I like a bit of winter golf.

Buy them immediately as there is a small possibility you could lose an arm before winter.

Enjoy the fitting. Just out of interest where are you getting fit?

I'd wait. I just never know how fat or skinny I'll be in the spring.

I'm going to buy before:

* My swing is going to be in better shape than right after winter

* The two OEM's I would actually consider, Mizuno and Titleist, are releasing irons now and will not come out with anything next season

I’m waiting till after winter to get more clubs.

Do you have an indoor setup? If yes, then buy away!

Before, during and after is the only acceptable answer..

I played ctaper 130x and then changed to DG X7. Heavier but feels way better and performs basically the same. No real reason to wait the prices are the same.
