Anyone using the M6 hybrids?

I know these get a lot of flack for not having the carbon fiber look and for their slightly larger footprint. However, after looking down at the silver crown on my M5 driver and M6 fairway, I'm having a difficult time transitioning to the glossy black hybrid. I've never been a 5 wood guy and so I'm thinking of trying a M6 hybrid. What are your guys experiences with them? Worth it or not?

We had a TaylorMade rep at our course a few weeks back with full bags of demo clubs and Trackman. Unfortunately we had to hit into a net. I’m looking to replace my 5 iron with a hybrid. I’m playing a really old Cobra 4 hybrid with a steel shaft, and I don’t want to get rid of it, because it’s probably the most reliable club in the bag.

He gave me a 5 hybrid, and I hit it ok. Carried farther than my 4 hybrid. I think it’s 25* loft, and my carry was averaging 195. I hit my 23* Cobra 185 average. These things are long!

Felt great, looked great. Just make sure you get the lofts that work!

Added a 19* to the bag to replace my old Stage 2 18.5 tour. Very nice hybrid, but the Stage 2 is back. It’s been in the bag too long. The M6 is half inch longer and sat a little up right for me at address.

I ended up buying one sight unseen at the beginning of the year due to their strong trade in bonus program. I've had G30 hybrids that I loved and just can't make the M6 work. For me it's a hook machine and I can't figure out why. On the odd chance I hit it well it has great launch and carry but it's left for me 90% of the time. I'll be going back to Ping hybrids but that's just me. My swing doesn't do well with change.

A few weeks ago I had a round where I needed a 200 yard club 3 or 4 times and I could not hit my U65 3i that day. I went out for dinner, had at least one too many, and headed to the local range at 10:45pm and they closed at 11pm. Grabbed a M6 22 degree with that ugly Atmos stiff shaft without hitting it. That thing has been money. I have used it off the tee, off the fairway, and out of the rough. I have complete confidence in this club. The first hybrid that I don't hook the poo out of. It launches really high and that is all I can make it do, but it does that well.

The shaft is still ugly :-)

Are you using the stock Atmos shaft?

I've hit it in Golf Galaxy a few times with the stock shaft. It feels horrendously soft but the performance is actually really good for me. That said, I'm not sure I want a hybrid shaft lighter than my 3 wood shaft.

Yes, stock Atmos stiff shaft.

My guess is that is would not hold up well to a strong swing but most of those guys are not looking for hybrids. My average Driver SS on trackman is 104 and they can sneak in from 100 to 107. The stock shaft works well with my stock swing.

I'm in pretty similar territory but have a very quick swing with a ton of shaft load. That said, I actually really liked the Atmos shaft when I tested the club but the distances were a bit ridiculous. I might order one with a shaft matching my irons to try to keep things gapped reasonably well.

I would think that a shaft change is in order. I liked the Atmos during testing but it definitely wanted to miss left. That said, having the thing bent a few degrees flat might also be very helpful. If the M6 is anything like almost every other hybrid on the planet, it is much too upright for the vast majority of players.

I have a M6 3 hybrid with a regular Atmos shaft. Driver swing speed 88-93, with better days and worse. The M6 is just a great club for me. Predictably straight, goes at best 200 yards. Good from many different lies. I have a Ping G400 4 hybrid that is dependable, but not as long. I replaced a G400 3 hybrid with the M6, and I'm very happy with it. Start my irons at a 6, so might be another M6 hybrid in there by next year.
