Smooth low/low shafts

Currently playing a tensei pro orange 70 stiff in an M5 10.5 and while it performs it doesn’t do much in the feel department.

I swing about 100-103 with a smooth/medium transition, but tend to spin the ball a bit and launch around 13-14 degrees.

Heres a video of my driver swing:

http://www.hudl.com/technique/video/view/01fMmxXN

I have tried - tensei pro white 70 stiff - loved it, great feel, would be at top of list

Hzrdus t1100 6.0 65g- good feel, not spectacular, but works.

Have considered looking at the tensei pro blue, but have heard great things about the kuro kage dual core xt as a low low shaft that feels really good.

Any help?

I’m the same SS as you in driver. I play the Pro White 60g stiff and it’s the best shaft I’ve ever played over multiple heads from different OEMs. Can’t beat it in my opinion

I tried the Pro Blue in my driver and you can’t go after it and for me I had to constantly remind myself to slow down my tempo.

Whether I’m trying to kill the ball or hit it smooth the Pro White can handle it. And it’s just a smooth shaft

If I had an M5 I would try the 60g Pro White and add headweight and see how it feels to you. If the Pro White 70 feels good in the M5 do that but test both you may be pleasantly surprised at the weight differences

I remember i tried the 70g pro white tipped a half inch and it felt like an absolute sledgehammer when striking it out of the middle. Like the handle loads and then just explodes into the ball

I have a similar SS as you. In one of my previous drivers, an 2016 M2; I played the Diamana D+ (62 stiff and 70 stiff). This was a great combo. The Diamana D+ is cheap, even in all of its versions. The Pro White is pretty much an updated version of the D+. However, many big names on tour still game the D+ so there's something to be said about that. D+ is like a cheap version of the Tensei Pro White.

When I moved to the Ping G400 Max, I used the Aldila X-Torsion Copper 60s for some time. But I have tried the 70x version, and can handle it just fine. For me the 70x was low/low while the 60s was mid/mid. Both are smooth. Someone here recommended that I try the 70x version, I never thought I could handle an X flex with my SS but if you happen to try the Tensei Pro Blue in stiff and it plays mid/mid, try it in X if you can. I bet it will feel plenty smooth and play low/low. I ultimately went with the Aldila Tour Green 65s. For me it's low/low, torque and weight is similar to the X-Torsion Copper 70x. The Tour Green are very cheap too. Heck, I would say try the Aldila Tour Blue in X too. That shaft is incredibly smooth in stiff and plays mid/mid; so in X, it may work out as low/low and super smooth. Another cheap experiment. By now, you probably get the idea that I like playing cheap shafts that perform.

Your best bets are the tensei pro white, diamana df, and id even throw in the tour ad bb as smoother feeling low/low shafts.

You're on the wrong side of the ball, ha. Is it me or do lefties in baseball and golf swing smoother? Anyway, the orange you have is CB so be careful when you upgrade.

I am right there with you on swing speed. I second thed0n in regard to the X-Torsion Copper 60s. Smooth shaft, very long for me, more mid/mid. I also purchased the 70tx version which is low/low. I switch back and forth, depending on how much I am playing, and the condition of my swing, the course I am playing, etc. I got the 70 off ebay for $10, I paid more in shipping than the club itself, probably my best buy ever. Point is, the price is right for a shaft of this caliber.

Diamana DF is really as smooth as you will find in the low/low category, that and Tensei Pro white. But both those shafts tend to launch more in the mid window for most people, at least that’s what i have seen. DF has a linear load or one piece loading of the shaft, and tensei pro white you can feel shaft loading/flexing higher up the shaft beneath the hands. Both shaft are amazingly smooth though, but in my opinion diamana DF is a smooth as it gets.

In my experience, "smooth" tends to equal softer mid and butt sections, tip stiffness usually doesn't matter a ton. Sometimes higher torque, regardless of EI can feel "smooth" but since there's no industry standard, that shouldn't really be looked at too much.

And just as an FYI, I also recommend you not worry too much about the "low/low" thing because that's usually just going to mean stiff tip but doesn't always mean you'll launch the ball or spin the ball low.

Anyway, I'd say the smoothest shafts I've swung that kept my spin pretty low compared to other shafts using the same head are Accra shafts. I haven't swung TZ series but I was fit into the Tour Z Xtreme line and they were really great shafts. Pretty stout but never felt harsh or difficult to load. Also consider Diamana line up of shafts if you like MCA. From what I've felt and what I've heard, they tend to have just a little bit more feel to them. I used a Kai'li in my 3w for a while and it was great.
