Just wondering if anyone has being fit for these or game's these shafts?

Was fitted the other day to a 6.5 (Stiff plus) which surprised me as i only swing it 84-88 with a 7 iron. Did anyone go up a flex with these?

My current gamers were Dynamic Gold AMT S300.

Thanks, Kye.

I can get 92mph out of my 7 iron with close to 128 ball speed, and play the 6.5.

Love the feel and launch window, and won’t go to anything else for a while

I was fitted for these last fall (Oct 18) the Lz 6.5. When I ordered my new irons in December I ordered the 6.5 soft stepped 1x and they were great all year long for me. The perfect launch window, ball flight and spin. I just recently got a new set of irons and these shafts weren’t available, but I’d play them again in a heart beat. They are not too stiff either and I also have a 87 avg with my 6 iron.

To the point of your question, swing speed isnt everything as far as stiffness goes - especially with a shaft like the LZ in respect to how it loads. I was recently fitted for PX LZ 6.0 (previously PX 5.5) with a swing speed on a 6i averaging 88mph with my PX5.5 and 90mph with the PX LZ. So, at your speed I would have guessed a 5.5 or 6.0 LZ. However to my earlier point, if you have a good swing speed and very strong/aggressive transition, then certainly 6.5 could be warranted.

Thanks guy, I just don't want to wait until my irons arrive to have to change my mind on them, i only hit the 7 iron so I'm a touch nervous that they maybe stiff, especially in the 4,5. In relation to an aggressive transition I honestly have no idea.... I'm torn between having them changed to the 6.0 or maybe soft step them once?

In fairness to the fitter I was fitted using the older Mizuno Swing DNA and the options I was given were;

KBS Tour X

Project X LZ 6.5

Dynamic gold S300

I hit my Ping I210 9 iron about 160 total and use the 6.0. These shafts feel amazing compared to the DG S300 I played for years. My fitting done by a Mizuno rep suggested a X100 SS or S300 HS. When I did a 2nd trial on a different day, neither shaft was suggested by the DNA. The LZ 6.0 worked and felt the best to me with the Modus 120X 2nd.

If they felt too stiff, then they probably were too stiff and you'd be better off going down a flex or finding a different shaft model. Soft stepping is extremely subtle, many can't even tell the difference in one soft step. It is unfortunate that he didn't have a 6.0 for you to test out. In fact, it would probably be best to look else where to see if someone else has the shaft available for you to test.

The age of the Optimizer DNA is really irrelevant. The optimizer results are only a starting point in the fitting process and you never choose a shaft just based on the optimizer recommendations. The real test and fitting is when you hit the shafts in question and see how they feel to you and what results you get - those two things are the only thing that really matters.

Play the 6.0 LZ and love it

The only issue I have had is with more touch or half swings just took a little bit of time to get used to. The old DG S300 still had a kick with those shots, the LZ not so much

For the purpose of this thread I'll have to respectfully disagree with you. I have gamed both the S300 and now LZ 6.0 which are similar in stiffness, however I would say that they play very different. The S300 to me plays with more of a linear stiffness (closer to PX 5.5) while the LZ has a slight distinct kick, which for my swing type helps promote a soft draw vs slight fade push with S300.

Of course, a lot of this is opinion and feel based, but wanted to add my .02

I'm a high speed, quick transition player and these didn't really work for me, SS is 110-114.

I loved the profile on paper, but the long irons were too hard to launch and there wasn't the same feel as DG or KBS Tour.

I think they're a quality product but just didn't work for me. They were 10/10 for stinger flights but that wasn't the stock flight I was looking for.

My 7 iron is presently around 90 MPH and ball speed is around 129. When I was fitted earlier this year the fitter narrowed in on mainly the Project X options for me. Tried PX 6.5, PX LZ 6.5, PX 6.0, and PX LZ 6.5. The LZ definitely felt softer than the standard PX of the same flex in both 6.0 and 6.5.

I was playing the KBS Tour V X-Stiff until I had shoulder surgery. Afterwards, I was fitted and was told that LZ 6.0 or KBS Tour V in Stiff were viable options. The jury is still out- I like the profile of the LZ (it has slightly higher launch/spin) but had really become accustomed to the profile of the Tour Vs. IMHO the LZs are more responsive, but the Tour Vs are better in windy conditions. I have a relatively quick/aggressive transition and the KBSs seem to tolerate that a little better. My 7 iron SS is about 85-90. Hope this helps a little bit

I think you better cancel that order with the LZ 6.5 shafts. This is the second post you've put up on this subject and I would be surprised if by now you haven't killed any confidence you might have had in your shaft choice. Not much point in going for a fitting if you are going to then over analyze your choice before you even have a chance to hit the clubs. If you have such low confidence in the fitter then you should have gone elsewhere to have the fitting done.

Sorry, didn't catch your prior post. Good move, I think you'll be really happy with the 6.0's.

have 2 sets of 919's with LZ, one is the blackout version. It may be a while before I even try another iron shaft.

My bother plays them, so does my buddy I play with every weekend.

Man, I literally found out about the blackout version RIGHT after I got mine fitted to P790. Those things are beautiful. Of course, its probably better off that way, because then i would have had to of gotten the black P790 and the entire ordeal would have cost at least double what I paid if not more. Oh well, maybe next time.

I had the Project X LZ 120 6.0's in my PING i210's then got the Apex with the Modus3 105 Stiff. I went for a fit for the new P790's and was fit again into the Project X LZ 120 6.0's with those heads. I should have never left those shafts. They feel so good

Getting about 88mph SS with a 7iron with approx 123mph ball speeds. Spin was reasonable with the 790 head with these shafts as well
