TM Hi-Toe 60º Wedge - Which Sole - 4 Way or ATV

Hi All,

I'm in the market for a new 60º and like the look of the Hi-Toe.

I use my 60º for 60-70 yard pitches, greenside chips, bunker shots, and I also have to open the face a fair bit, quite on my course for the way it plays (you need to play quite a few high soft landing shots over obstacles). I never hit full shots.

Which sole would you recommend, the 4 way or the ATV grind?

For the type of usage you're describing, I'd go with the 4 way. I played the ATV last season and have the 4 way this season. I found the ATV to be great out of bunkers and thick rough, but it wasn't as versatile as the 4 way (which is closer to a standard C grind). I didn't like the results when opening it up because the trailing edge's interaction with the turf made the leading edge stick up off the ground way too high.

I have the ATV grind. It's like magic out of the bunkers and super versatile on flops around the green, it's like a get out of jail free card.

Probably not the "best" option out there for those 60-70 shots if that's what you like to use it for, as the sole will dig easily with a square face.

Get the 10 Degree it has a good C grind and is very versatile. The ATV sole is crap IMO.....

I find the ATV to be fantastic for all shots. Huge difference around the greens and in the bunkers. For me full/half shots with a square face are better than a regular grind wedge too. Not sure what it is, I have a fairly steep swing and take massive divots but the ATV has worked like a charm.

Now I'm confused!

Does the ATV grind have less bounce on square face shots, or more?

Which is going to best for opening up the club face and using around the green?

It has more than the 4-way. ATV is 12* while 4-way is 10* (on a 60* wedge). I'm not 100% sure how the bounce on ATV changes when you open up the face, though I imagine the way the sole is shaped the bounce goes down. I find it to be excellent for flops and bunker shot.

Just picked up a 54 and 58 after reading many reviews.

Went with 56* bent to 54* so I could get the 4 way which from what I’ve read, is better for full swings.

The 58* is atv which as stated above, great for sand, flips, etc but not so great for full swing.
