***ATTENTION***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***ATTENTION***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***ATTENTION

Last year, in an effort to improve the capability of our forums, we switched to new software. We expected tremendous scalability and rapid customization that would significantly improve each Member's experience across multiple devices and integrate flawlessly with social media platforms.

Unfortunately, after a significant capital expense, we have decided that the length of time and the additional cost to reach our goals make this enterprise untenable.

Thus, we have made the difficult decision to transition the forums to our original software platform. We’re excited that, in the nearly two years since we began the process of our most recent switch, our original platform has been upgraded significantly, and we are confident that the reversion will not only provide the stability that we desperately needed prior to our last move but will also return to the Membership the high level of customization that made our online community so great. We have also added technical resources to the GolfWRX staff that will allow us to build custom modules and modifications that we are confident will take the forums to the next level.

We remain the world's largest online golf community, and we still hold true to our core values and mission statement as written in 2005. Bearing both of those elements in mind, being the best and offering our Members a platform that is world-class are both requirements, not options, and it is that spirit that has motivated this decision.

So, please pardon our mess over the next five days or so while we transition the forums.

A few important notes: Current content will be accessible during that time, but the forums will be READ ONLY, and you will not be able to start new threads or reply to posts. Personal Messaging is enabled but PMs sent/received from the time the board was frozen will not carry over. We know this is inconvenient, and we apologize, and we greatly appreciate GolfWRXers bearing with us through the transition.

We are very excited about starting this next chapter for GolfWRX and getting back to the high-quality Member experience we all expect as soon as possible.

Callaway Preowned Average Condition Irons

I wanted to see if anyone has purchased irons in average condition from CPO and what were your impressions when you received it in hand? Better or worse than you expected? I really don't care about bag chatter and other dings and was more concerned with the faces and grooves being completely worn out. From a probability perspective, I'm thinking that this iron set model is about 3 years old so I have a feeling the chances are high that the average condition might be better compared to a 10 year old model in average condition per say. Appreciate any feedback.

No irons, but I have purchased a driver and an Odyssey putter from CPO.
Both showed up in better condition than described by the ratings. From a business standpoint it would make sense for them to be conservative, and send clubs that will pleasantly surprise you vs. the expectation from the condition rating. It was certainly the case with both of my purchases. In any case, I don't think they will even sell clubs with excessive groove wear, and the condition guides are more about the cosmetic aspects....

I agree with the previous SDK67.
Every club I have ever ordered from CPO has shown up in surprisingly better condition than what I expected.

Not much experience here but my friend loves that site.

He also got a replacement for a cracked driver and ordered a Rogue, like new condition though. However it might have well said it was 'new', there isnt a spot on the thing, the grip is brand new, etc. I ended up buying it off of him as he didnt like the club.

Another agreement - No irons here either, but I have always been pleasantly surprised, enough so that next time I might order a level "below" what I think I want just to save a few bucks.

Callaway Pre-Owned typically underestimates the condition of their clubs.
I once got a "like new" driver that still had shrinkwrap on the grip.

Agree with all the above - I've bought from them many times.
Every club I've purchased has been in better condition than advertised - drivers, FW's, irons - all.

I have always been happy with the condition of products received from Callaway Pre-Owned and I consider myself picky.

CPO generally delivers products commensurate with their rating, but you need to know going in that average condition can be a bit beat up. Not abused per se, but irons could be worn. Woods will usually have some marks and scratches on the crown. That is why they are average condition. But if you want the item, and the price is right, worst case scenario is you send them back if you are really not pleased.

I got "like new" irons this year and they were literally new. I could not see a single mark on a single club. I got an "Average" driver last year and it showed some wear but well within the range of what I considered acceptable.

My experience is similar to lefty & SDK. I've bought a number of clubs from CPO & they almost always were much better than listed. The one set I was disappointed in was easily returned w/ no drama.
    Good luck!

I've restocked my bag completely at least once from that site- I had an issue with a driver I bought from them that was questionable compared to the rating they had given it. I called them and explained my feelings and opinion and they e-mailed me a return authorization and credited me back for my purchase. I bought a replacement on the sight the next day(or so) and had no problems. As far as the "AVERAGE" rating goes- a vast majority of my "average" clubs could've passed for "very good"- almost always better than I expected.

I've always received items better than the listed condition. The only downside is, when you have certain expectations based off of everyone else and do receive an "average" condition item, don't be disappointed. Pay for the "like new" if you want like new.

Lately the condition guide seems hit or miss. The last few "Like New" clubs I purchased has cosmetic issues and I would have call them "Very Good" at best.

I've purchased a set of irons in "Average" condition before. The faces were in fantastic shape without any browning or dings. These were forged irons and there was a bit of bag chatter but nothing really bad. I would say the irons saw maybe a year or two of use.

The only unique thing is that the irons had been paintfilled (and looked really good) and the grips were midsize, so I had to switch those out for my usual standard.

You shouldnt have any issues with condition. If you do, you can send it back for a refund, no questions asked. But as others have said, have your expectations set accordingly....dont order "average" condition equipment and expect stuff that doesnt look used.

Ive ordered multiple times from CPO with absolutely no complaints. Just received a gap wedge in "very good" condition from them last week and you can barely tell it was used except for some light wear on the sole.

They've always been at least as good as I'd expect, and usually better. Really, I wouldn't worry much about it though. They're top notch at taking care of customers after the sale. If you are unhappy with the condition after you receive it, I'm certain you will be taken care of.

The worst part about CPO is their stickers. One on the shaft and one on the clubhead, and apparently applied to the club in 1985.
