Haven’t hit more than the 6 iron in the 620 - but definitely prefer the 620Cb over the 718 CB just purely based on feel. The 620 CB is remarkably soft even with sim beaters.

The 718 CB should be more forgiving in the 3-7 iron. I’m happy they have gone back to a fully forged iron (in the 620), as opposed to the steel face on a forged body (718 CB).

Sorry that I can’t be of more help.

Thats something new i didnt hear about from many reviews. Most of the reviews mentioned how difference btwn 718 cbs and 620 cbs is very minimal that not that worth it to upgrade. Really want to try them all at the same time but cant seem to find a place in Korea that has them all out.

I’m a bit disappointed to hear that the 718 CB’s have a steel face on a forged body as I recently switched to them from AP3 with outstanding results. I’m sure a lot of credit goes to the LZ shaft but I’ve been deadly accurate with them since the switch. I missed my first ever hole in one yesterday by 8 inches and average birdie count has definitely increased. I find them much easier to hit than initially expected, with both the flight and distances being really consistent. Is the steel face meant for durability or ball speed purposes?

Well, I highly doubt that Titleist took out the Tungsten if the club needed it. It may re-appear in a couple years as part of the "upgrade" but it's pretty minor.

That said, I love my 716 CB irons! The only 718 I've hit was a 2-iron I bought to go with them but ya know, I did not love the feel of it. I have 3- and 4-irons in the 716 CB set and to me, those felt better. Same exact shafts in all of them. Oh, and I also didn't necessarily love the flat finish on the backside of the 718 either. Looked a little cheap TBH.

So I'd probably jump on the 620 if I could afford to.

With performance like that, how could you possibly be disappointed with the irons? It has a face that isn’t forged but, you didn’t know and couldn’t tell.

Oh yeah, it’s WRX. I get it. ?

It seems like I learn all sorts of cool stuff here daily, although in this instance I think I might have preferred to stay uninformed. I certainly couldn’t tell by feel. My thoughts are that these are the best feeling clubs I’ve ever hit save the 690.mb. Not sure if anyone can relate but I kind of feel like it’s not really me hitting them with the way some of the shots fly. It’s kind of like I’m waiting for the rug to be pulled out at any moment so I’m teeing it up every day the weather permits in the interim until it inevitably happens.

Fitted for the 620 cb. No experience with long irons on this set as I will be going to the ZU85 3 & 4-irons. Not enough height.

Well, based on the stuff around the web, the 718 CB were too close in overall playability to the 718 AP2. Removing the tungsten from the 5, 6, and 7 irons created more of a gap between the T100 and the 620CB. The CB will be softer, but less forgiving in those mid-irons. I’ll be surprised if they bring the tungsten back- otherwise they begin encroaching on the t100/AP2 again.

I prefer the 718 cb as I like a little forgiveness in the mid irons, 8-pw in the 718 are solid forged, honestly I don't think having a solid forged 5 iron in the 620 for better feel is superior to the 718 5 iron, but I see elite players will have a lower launch angle with the 620 due to less tungsten and higher COG, for them the 620 will be superior, for my 2 handicap I will stick with a little tungsten!

IMO if you're looking at forgiveness you're in the wrong > @r555nm said:

That's my issue. I hit them super high (though I hit everything pretty high). My short stint with MP20 MB had me hitting some phenomenal knock down long irons including probably the best iron shot of my life which was a 195 knock down dart second shot into par 5 into wind with an island green. Probably not a good choice to go for the shot but I stuck it to 10 feet. With my CB I probably would have gotten hung up into the wind and went in the drink - can't keep them low enough. That said, I don't think the feel improved enough with the loss of tungsten. In any event the CB is a fantastic iron.

As far as I know, the 718 CB is the only one in the lineage that Titleist made with a steel face welded to a forged body. It was definitely done to boost ball speed and it did sort of create a more compact version of the AP2, and maybe that is why they returned to more traditional construction with the 620 CB. The 716 CB and the ones before it were forged heads.

There are a ton of super popular cavity backs that are labeled forged even though the face is welded to a forged body — all the standard Callaway Apexes, for example (Apex Pros are fully forged) — and some can’t tell them apart in playing them. No matter how it was constructed the 718 CB is a nice iron.
