PALM SPRINGS / DESERT GOLF

Going to be there from 10/5 - 10/12 and obviously there are quite a few nice golf courses in the area. Playing as a single and already booked for the Desert Willow Firecliff course. Will probably book 2 more tee times so looking for must plays and any other tips I can get.

Also I did go to Standbygolf.com and checked the over-seeding schedule. I am actually staying at Shadow Ridge resort and that course is closed for over-seeding while I'm there.

There are lots and lots of excellent courses. One of my favorites is the Classic Club.

My favorites: Indian Wells (both courses are great), Desert Willow (Firecliff is definitely the better of the two), Classic Club, Eagle Falls, PGA West (Stadium, Nicklaus), Escena (if you want a cheaper option or something near the airport for fly in / out days). We used to play SilverRock, but it has kind of been ruined a bit by a recent renovation, but still a nice place. I don't love the La Quinta Resort courses personally, Mountain is ok, Dunes is not my favorite. Lots of options.

Yeh I have tee time at Desert Willow Firecliff already. Also at the LaQuinta Mountain course several people have stated this is a must play for the scenery. Will book one more tee time somewhere else, both Indian Wells as well as Mission Hills have been recommended too.

Play IW for sure. If you want a challenge play The Players Course (longer, tougher, less eye candy), if you want a nice, fun, relaxing (easier) round, Play The Celebrity Course. IW is the best facility down there I think. And no houses, which is nice. Both courses are awesome, and completely different.

I’m a HUGE fan of Classic Club. I also really like SilverRock which people seem to either love or hate. It’s at the base of some pretty incredible scenery.

I still like Silverock. I like most of the changes they made, with the exception of the par 3, I think its around #11 now, and the drivable 18th is a bit problematic. The setting at the base of the mountains is amazing.

As said above, can’t say enough about Classic Club

Am I the only one that doesn't care for the Indian Wells courses (Players and Celebrity)? I thought they were in nice shape but was extremely disappointed when I went there last March. Also played: PGA West Stadium, PGA West Norman, Firecliff and Classic Club and thought they were all pretty good / worth a try.

Classic will be closed while I'm there for over seeding and Silverhorn closes the 10/7 for the same thing

My favorite course is PGA West Stadium for it is such a challenge. I have played it quite a bit over the years and it really hasn't changed, always been hard. I can gauge how well I'm playing by what I shoot there. Very tough approach shot course, although I don't think the greens are as difficult as the course tee to green.

The Classic Club is also doing bunker renovations.. LQ Mountain is a nice track...
