Shoes with Extremely Wide Toe Box

Recommended Posts

I've been on the hunt for a pair of golf shoes that have an extremely wide toe box. I've tried the following shoes and the toe boxes are all too narrow:

Ecco Biome Hybrid 3

FootJoy Fury (M and W)

FootJoy Pro SL

UA HOVR Drive (M and W)

Adidas Tour360 XT

Puma Ignite

Nike React Vapor 2

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations before I start wearing running shoes on the course?

Skechers were the widest I tried. Even their standard width is pretty wide but the wide width was super roomy.

PING G425 LST 14.5* - VENTUS Velocore Blue 7S

PING G425 Max 20.5* - Tour AD-IZ 7X

Ping G425 Hybrid 24.5* - VENTUS Blue HB 9X

Srixon ZX5 5/6 ZX7 7-PW - Nippon Modus3 120S

Cleveland RTX Zipcore Tour Rack 50/54/58 - DG Spinner

That is surprising as all the Skechers I’ve recently tried have a toe box that is fairly pointy and narrow. I might be looking at the wrong styles, but in the local pga superstore and golfsmith they certainly are.

True linkswear is probably the answer however, I wear Altra and Topo running shoes and find the Ecco Bioms work well for me.

I like Altra shoes as well. Perfectly shaped. The Skechers GO GOLF Elites were the version I tried and liked.

Same for me - nothing in Ecco is remotely wide enough.

New Balance 4e width models, or Footjoy ContourFit XW are about it for me.

I found the Eccos weren't even the best of the ones I tried.

Yeah

Their golf shoes have always not been so great for me, despite all the good reviews they get

Ecco's maybe/probably fit a majority, I don't know. All I know is that I had Eccos and I liked them but walking 18, I could feel my toes curling up towards the end of the round and i sometimes had blisters.

The True Linkswear Originals are awesome if you need a wide toe box, much better than the Eccos. I find the entire shoe to be wider, actually.

Do people look at the old school nice looking shoes anymore? I would think the Footjoy customs with the many different choices in sizes, colors and widths would be my next choice. I think the new old guy style (Im an old guy) is terrible to look at. Sketchers, Echos, etc. Pair that with the high school tenny runner look, golf style has went down the tubes. My 2 cents.

I don't know if anyone else had a similar experience, but I have a pair of True Originals that I bought because they've traditionally been the best company for wide shoes. While the shoe itself is pretty wide, I find the opening with the elastic sock liner so small it's hard to get the shoe on. I cannot get mine on without using a shoe horn and even then it's a struggle. I don't understand why they'd make a shoe for wide feet and make such a narrow opening?

I ended up buying a pair of Ecco Biome Hybrid 3's (with Boa) and found them so comfortable I stopped even trying to squeeze into the Trues. I was surprised with the comfort of the Eccos because I hadn't found previous models to be particularly wide.

As nice as those look, the toe box tapers to a point, even in the wide versions. Some of us like to let our feet and toes spread out a bit and not have our pinkies jammed into the side of a shoe.

Bingo. I love the look of a classic Tour Saddle but they don’t love me.

I know this is a several weeks old but I have a wide foot (4E in New Balance) and find the Extra Wide Footjoys suit me fine. My fit is wide through the toe box and thick from top to bottom. In New Balance, I take a 11.5 4E (12 4E in some models). In Asics I take a 12 4E. In the Footjoys, 11 XW fit me great. Sometimes the XW's are hard to find. I've had some success with Footjoy shoes in 11.5 Wide. I find Footjoys tend to run a bit long.

I find the Nike shoes to have a good sized toe both area as well as the Pumas. I have a pair of the FJ Dryjoy Tours and I love the shoes but if I walk 18 in them my feet/toes are killing me and my toenails end up being black and blue.

True linkswear for the win! I haven't tried on any of the newer versions but the Phoenix and Sensei versions had excellent toe boxes !! I would assume that it has carried on to most of their current versions. True's are super comfortable also and you almost feel like you don't have shoes on. Best of luck with you search.
