Walker Cup broadcast/stream...???

Is ANYBODY showing this? I've tried contacting USGA but that is a colossal waste of time. They NEVER reply, emails or FB. Any info would be great.

Fox Sports 1 is broadcasting it.

I contacted FOX and they know nothing of it so far.

FOX owns the broadcasting rights in the US, but I don't believe they are planning any coverage.

This matches what I found as well.

I think the 2017 coverage at LACC was an outlier because the course itself was a big draw for golf fans. LACC had just been renovated and is hosting the Open in a couple of years, so Fox may have also seen it as a dry run opportunity for their coverage team.

That's too bad. GC broadcast the 2013 Walker Cup from NGLA. I wonder if there is a UK/Europe broadcast feed. If so it would be great if Fox or GC could carry it.

At this stage there doesn't appear to be any scheduled live TV coverage in the UK. Very strange as the matches have for decades now been shown live by one broadcaster or another, why no live coverage at all?

All that I can find for the UK is that the BBC is showing highlights after it is all done.

I beleive Sky Sports are showing highlights each evening.

Per a promo they just ran on TV, Golf Channel will have Walker Cup coverage at 11pm Eastern next Saturday.

Late night highlights is pretty much the same as what Sky Sports are doing unless there is a very late change.

Just going to be a 1 hour highlight show on Saturday and Sunday night. Wonder if it is just a replay of the Sky Sports coverage. Sky Sports is now owned by Comcast (NBC/Golf Channel).

According to the Sky Sports schedule it's a 1 hour highlight package, starts at 11.30pm and run again at 2am.

Have the TV companies soured on the Walker Cup? Maybe the organisers overestimated their bargaining position for live TV rights and the TV companies took a pass? Very strange that it's suddenly being confined to a late night highlight package.

This is a shocking state of affairs. You would have thought that when the R&A negotiated The Open contract with Sky, they would have pushed to have The Walker Cup and even The Amateur Championship to have a bigger block of coverage, much like the USGA did when they signed the 10 year US Open contract with Fox.

I recently watched the Boys Home Internationals at Ashburnham in person all three days and Conor Gough is the best natural talent I have seen since I saw Rory playing men’s homes internationals in 2006. He absolutely blew me away. I have been to 3 of the last 4 Opens and seen all of the top boys practising, on the range, on the course and in full tournament mode, Gough could hang with most of them and he’s 16 years old.

Verging on a disgrace that we’ll see about 4 full shots and 10-15 putts of his this weekend if we are lucky.

It's a USGA event, so Fox had first shot at it.

I checked, FS1 had the coverage here in the US in 2017. There were six hours each on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. This year on FS1 they have NFL Films specials until the college football pregame show Saturday morning. Sunday morning they have the Army/ Michigan replay before heading to drag racing.

The lack of coverage is absolutely shameful. The Walker Cup is the pinnacle of amateur team matchplay and all of the greats have played in it, to varying degrees of success.

I am assuming that we have concluded that there is no live broadcast anywhere, yes? Bumping this in the hope that someone has found something.

Bummer if there is no coverage, was looking forward to it after seeing them practice as a team at pinehurst after the US Am

So it was an R&A decision. Looks like all the extra money they have channelled into the increased WBO prize fund had to come from somewhere.

I'm not sure that I understand this. When NBC or CBS show the PGA Tour they are paying for the rights. And Sky pay the ET for the rights and they definitely pay the R&A for the rights to the Open. So surely if there is enough interest from the viewers, you and me, then a broadcast organisation would be willing to pick up the tab and there should be no cost to the R&A, there might even have been a little profit.

So if that is right then which of these is correct:

There is not enough perceived interest from the fans.

There is no interest from the broadcasters.

The R&A don't think it's worth their while (to sell the amateur game?)

What a missed opportunity, given that there's no PGA Tour event this week.

7-5 at the end of today with GB&I in the lead. Brandon Wu winning both his matches for Team USA, serious player.

there are highlights at 11 PM ... hell, just one camera on the course with a commentator would've been enough for me to watch ...
