Anyone around Manchester area want to play?

Maybe coming through September 17-24. Birkdale, RLSA, Liverpool and maybe out to Ganton. Let me know via PM. BTW also welcome someone who is comfortable driving on the wrong side of the road.)

No UK trip for me this year, alas. Too bad because this is just about the time of year I used to like to go and I'd love to see Ganton again (or any number of other places you're likely to play). Have a good trip.

Gee, now I've bummed myself out!

I live about 10 miles North West of Manchester, but my golfing budget is all spent up this year! Would love to have played, and of course no problem driving. If you're back over in the North West next year give me a shout. I've not played RLSA or Liverpool but Birkdale and Ganton will be absolute treats. Enjoy.

Had a great time Ganton - BUNKERS, Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s - fairway bunkers everywhere but playable rough, Royal Birkdale - hilly but fair flat fairways, Royal Liverpool - flat as can be and tight driving course IMO.

Lovely time and didn’t crash from my first driving experience on the wrong side of the road.

Did you find the fairways at Birkdale to have outstanding links turf? I have a memory from my visit there (long time ago, now) of hitting super crisp iron shots off the fairways with a most satisfying thump at impact.

The fairway bunkering at Ganton is arranged in a way that's a master class of course design. But if you can execute a shot that stays clear of the direct line to a bunker at Ganton you will be rewarding (usually) with a favorable bounce and roll.

Conversely, Birkdale's individual bunkers probably extend their influence as far into the fairways as any I've ever seen. You can hit a shot that you'd swear won't come within 25 yards of a bunker and a subtle inclination of the fairway will gather it into the sand right before your disbelieving eyes.

It was wet at Birkdale when I played and there wasn't much fairway....haha..... Long grass/gorse was penal for sure if missing the fairway. Slow greens when we played, but it had some undulations to them which would be fun to play if firm and fast.
