De-badged Callaway Apex Pro 16

Just bought a new set of Callaway apex PRO 16 Irons. Just removed the badge on the back of the 3 Iron and will do the whole set for a cleaner look. What do you guys think?

"we don't need no stinking badges" ;) , I'm torn between the nice simplicity of the look and the fact that it looks like something fell out.

Maybe some lead-tape will make it look OK again?

I lost some weight in the process so either lead tape or tip weights.

Couple of seconds with a torch over the badge. Then stick a knife in just over the Apex PRO badge and pull gently and it will pop out. Then you will have a sticky residue to remove. Aceton worked quite well. Total weight removed was 6g.

Definitely clean and simple, but like someone else said it doesn't look like it was designed that way. Looks like something is missing unfortunately (which it is lol).

How does it affect sound/feel of the club?

I have not noticed any difference when I hit them side by side with my friends ”regular” Apex PRO 16 irons.

I believe the 5$ price tag comes at bulk quantity of 500+ pieces. I would say more around 10$ for such a small quantity as 1 set.

Still looks terrible...and now with a weird weight shift to the upper toe.

Mental hiccup- I was thinking about how much lead tape it would take to make up 6 swingweight points.

The club looks fine to me. I don't mind a little lead tape.

Haha I understood that, after putting the lead tape on. Thought it actually was alot and got a bit nervous. But after weightening it and put it on the club, I realised it was not much at all :)

Just cut the strips thinner and put along the cavity’s lower ledge.

I’m not a fan of plastic badges, but I do see where not having anything might not be as aesthetically pleasing. :smile:

Lead tape will come off. It was just to show how much 6 gram is. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Everyone thinks different and that’s how it should be. Coming from clean blades, this was the easiest way of getting an equal clean iron, but with alot more forgivness :)

I think the companies use the badges in some cases as a form of vibration dampener. I swear I read that somewhere , but I could be completely wrong

You are not wrong. Not just aesthetics. By removing the badge, people are defeating part of the design. To each his own, but I think they now look cheap.
