Who picked up the Iphone 3G?

Here's hoping someone (maybe Intelligolf) comes out with a slick program for the Iphone.

In just the little bit of time I have played with it, I just can't believe this unit won't be able to do everything we want and more.

So you developers...GET ON IT!!!

i went today to see a demo of it. sold out everywhere lol. where can i get one without the contract is my question?!?

pay as you go comes out in december, supposedly for the christmas rush. i was hopint it would be sim free though soon

They would need to bring out a whole new one as the Windows Mobile Version is made to run on Windows software and the Iphone version would needed to be designed for Apple software.

I guess maybe I should have titled this: "Who bought a 3G Iphone and is hoping to use it as a golf GPS?"

I for one will wait ...but no more than probably 3 months. After that, I'm buying something!

I'm glad you pointed out that "Amazing Caddy" software, I'm going to have to see how that turns out.

I tried the golfflyover.com, but dang, it was slow on my desktop...I would imagine it being even slower at 3G speeds.

Too bad that would get you disqualified in the Mi Am! No cell phones allowed. Another thread said they have iYardage as an app now at the online store.

Well, I'm figuring not only the time to program the software, but also the time it may take to map enough courses to be useful.

I played a little with IYardage and my reservations about how that works still are valid. It's a great idea, but I'm not sure they have actually tried using this on a course. I was having all kinds of trouble ...and I wasn't even playing a round.

First off, the swiping to change holes may be cool, but it's aggrevating when it doesn't work. Why I can't just click on the hole number at the bottom of the screen and change it via that. Plus, what happens when I need to jump back 5 holes or so...not cool, having to swipe that many times.

Also, like I said in another thread, it makes no sense that this thing doesn't automatically count GIR, Fairways, UnD's, Putts, etc... That is a major failure of the unit.

Last thing I can think of right now on Iyardage, I would personally like to set my shot basically along the lines it works now... but I want that shot locked in... Then when I actually hit and get to my ball... I should be able to draw another line that's my real shot. That way when reviewing I can see where I was trying for... And I still think it would be awesome if they would make these "lines" bezier curves... So, like when I pick the shot I want to do... I click the end point, but If I'm planning on doing a fade or draw (or slice/hook around trees) I can click the middle of the line and make the line a curve and move it in the shape closly maching what I was trying to do. Same with the final line... The final line/curve may be more important, as there you will see how you ended up where you did... Like if I was trying to hit it fairly straight, but I ended up 40 yards off line to the left, and my final curve shows a hook...well, that says a lot more than just a couple of dots or lines.

Now, if dragging the curve isn't easy, then at least click on the line and have the ability to select one of the 11 shot types (straight, fade, slice, push, push/slice, push/hook...etc...)

That's my take... I wish they made it easier to try some of these Iphone programs... I don't want to have to pay to try them out, but I don't see any kind of demo's for them.
