Hey guys. I’m not looking for anything fancy, just something that works. What’s the typical replacement for soft spikes?

Are you asking for what replacement brand people use? If so, I like the Champ Stingers.

Yes, that’s right. I’ve heard of Champ, Pulsar and Black Widow. Does it matter? Just looking for something pretty basic if that makes sense. The shoes are footjoy contour and I would be happy replacing the spikes with what’s currently in them, but don’t know what they are.

The complicated part is figuring out which threads you need. There are several kinds of threads used for spikes. This table should help you.

Spend a few $$$ on a decent spike wrench, especially if the old cleats are fairly worn. I had good luck with this one given that it has the pronged bits.

Here is Footjoy's page of current golf shoes and respective spikes.

FYI, in 2017, the company that makes CHAMP spikes merged with the company that owns Softspikes. So, it's possible that, there is a model that used to be sold under one brand that is now being sold under the other brand. For example, according the Footjoy page, the replacement spike for the Tour-S shoes is the CHAMP PiViX. The PiViX currently appears to be a Softspike product, with only a few stores still carrying (or at least advertising) the CHAMP version of the PiViX.
