TaylorMade Milled Grind 2 Wedges

Genuinely love them... my signature is long overdue for a redo, but I have both Chrome and Black (which just arrived Friday). Played the Chromes in 54.11 and 60.08. Nice grinds, great looks, and feel is less "clicky" than the 1st gen MG's... slightly more muted. I prefer normal groove lengths as compared to the Hi-Toe's (just could not get along with them visually in the long run). I bought the Blacks as a backup set based on my initial love for the Chromes, but might have to put them in play and keep the Chromes as the backup set simply because of the looks. The black finish looks amazing!

Me too, no more HT interest here.

You make a good point... not very many bounce options based on the loft you want. It can always be tweaked, but you have to alter loft. I still believe the 60.10 would likely work, but your only other higher bounce option seems to be Bigfoot HT...

Do you like the Nippon Modus 115 Wedge? I play the same 105 in my iron as well.

Yes, great wedge shafts that match up well for me with 105 in the irons.

What was the SW for your wedges with the Modus 115 shaft?

I just ordered 54.11 and 58.11 from TM's site, but I'm afraid the SW will be too low.. website says D5 swingweight for their stock DG s200 shaft, but I paid extra for the Modus 115 black shafts. Kind of annoyed at myself that I didn't fully think this through.

I am done with the HT For sure. I picked up a MG2 60* SB. Absolutely love this wedge after one round. This things feel amazing and just spins like crazy. I am so much more confident with this over the HT. The SB worked great from tight lies, rough, and the sand. It got a workout yesterday.

I have an OG MG 54 and the MG2 feels so much better. I’ll be getting the 54 next.

Mine are +1/4" and came out at D5 on the 54* and D6 on the 60*.

I can attest to the MG 2.0 wedges. I bought a 56.12 and a 60.10 and I really like them. I was playing a vokey 56.10S and 60.08M and need a little more bounce since I play most of my golf in the soggy Portland, OR conditions. So far I love them and they definitely are not as clicky as the 1st generation. They feel very similar to the PXG Milled wedges and about $500 less :#

Do you like them better then your Vokeys?

So I am not crazy. I had the milled grind and swapped for the hi toe and wasn’t as confident as with the milled grind. And when mg2 dropped I knew I had to change it up.

Thanks for the feedback

I am the opposite, I was recently fitted and my pro suggested the hi toe wedges due to our extremely thick and heavy rough. My home club is usually a yearly host for a US Open regional qualifier plus many other regional and national events. Any given day we are looking at 3-4 inches of thick, heavy rough. So far I am loving them, and honestly putting a standard wedge and the hi toe face to face at address I could not tell much difference.

Just out of curiosity, why were the hi toes replaced?

love the MG2's. currently have a 50 and 54. both have some serious stopping power.. Ive kept the faces relatively clean so far so there's no rust yet. but they feel amazing, look so clean at address...im coming from RTX 4's which are very good as well. currently I prefer the MG2's but I think your splitting hairs between the 2

in the 6 rounds I've played with these I definitely seem to have better results from within 50 yards. I think what's most important when it comes to wedges are getting the right shaft in there. These come off the shelf with s200

I still like my vokeys but can tell that I benefit from the additional cushion of bounce while playing wet/soft conditions. I'm still testing them out and dialing them in. I really like the TPU insert on the back. They have a very solid feel and the turf interaction on the grind works well for my game.

I haven't bought them yet but have hit them a lot on mats while waiting for T20s. They are the best feeling wedges (forged or not forged) that I remember. I like the feel better than Vokey, RTX4, and Jaws MD5. I am about to switch from Mizuno T7s and just figured it would be into T20s but I am close to pulling the trigger on 50, 54, 60 of MG2 Black.

I am a recovering Vokey addict. I have a few rounds under my belt with the 50*, 54*, and 60* chrome MG2’s. They are phenomenal!

Just ordered the 50 54 58 blacks in standard bounce after an extended demo, standard bounce is fine and not excessive at all, I could open the blade and them high, superb through through sand.

  • 3 weeks later...

Any other input?

I chipped and pitched indoor with the black MG2 and loved it. Set up and feel is great and spin seems very controlled ( in my very limited indoor experience). Thinking about them for next season. Would love them with a black shaft.

I was lukewarm on the Milled Grind 1, love my 60* HiToe, and liked 56* HiToe ok but chose to game a more traditional 56*.

Just got the MG2 56* about a week ago after hearing great reviews. Surprised at how much I like it. Immediately in the bag and probably getting the gap wedge to match. Great look, feel, and performance.
