MOI match set from off the rack clubs?

Let's say, hypothetically, someone has a new set of clubs. Standard length and 1* up lie angles. Is it possible to cut the 5 and 6 then extend the 8-gw using the 3/8 length change idea, and get an MOI matched set?

Yes it is possible and quite easy too, but even easier if we start out from a set where the short end is long enough so it all becomes butt cut only, and no extensions needed.

Adding some options to 3/8" set ups. - ALL BUTT CUT ONLY - Plus some lead tape as the chart suggest.

To "make it right" we must start from a #9 thats "correct" on specs, so if you normally would play +0.5" vs standard, a SET from OEM where all clubs is the same SW and plus 0.5" vs standard is ideal as stating point since no shafts need extensions then, only butt cut and some head weight tuning like the chart say.

PS! we have 2 slopes involved - Club length difference, and butt cut progression.

To be able to make this a DIY, ive used 2 alternative imperial butt cut slopes, and 4 different metric but cut slopes.

We can order a set from OEMs with grips LOOSE in the box, so all we have to do when we get them home, is to butt cut like the chart suggest, and add the needed head weight the chart suggest. it cant be done much easier than that, and if you dont want lead tape on your clubs, the most conservative option 10.7 mm between clubs / 2.0 mm progressive butt cut makes a set thats good enough to be called MOI matched with a SW slope of 1.1 SWP pr inch vs 1.33 as MOI matched

(we ends up with a #3 iron thats 0.8 gram head weight above target, thats how close we get)

PS! this charts is using the #9 iron as "favorite", so the needed head weight adjustment, is to make all other clubs to be like the #9 iron for resistance. Numbers is "relative", so the needed head weight replacement is the same also for sets thats starts 0.5" or 1.0" above standard, only actual play lengths will be different (chart shows vs standard)

Play length difference vs STD (or what ever you start from), is equal to butt cut needed on the actual club.

I'm trying to decide if I want to trim them to MOI or not. They are standard length, so I'd add length to some. I don't want lead tape though, so I may try to get close with the length trimming method you mentioned.
