RARE Taylormade Burner Tour Spoon 3 Wood 13 Degrees

Anyone still gaming one of these? I have been lucky enough to purchase one of these magnificent 3 woods for $20 on ebay. It is fitted with a Fujikura Bubble Extra Stiff Graphite Shaft. I have been extremely impressed with the workability of this 3 wood and it is surprisingly easy to hit. Reminds me of my old Titleist 970 which was, of course, notorious for being the "holy grail" of 3 woods and probably the best Fairway Woods Titleist ever produced. I presently haven't tested it against the latest technology (not really sure how it will compare). Just wondering if any famous tour players used to have this in the bag - possibly Olazabal? Also was this 3 wood ever released for retail or was it a tour only club (as it's different from the more common Taylormade Burner Tour Spoon 3 woods that were also available at that time)?

Tour only, JMO indeed used one for a bit after retiring his Maruman Conductor. There was also a similarly colored tour issue Burner Tour Raylor in 15 and 18 lofts that saw extensive use by Tom Lehman and Dottie Pepper.

That thing is awesome. I cycle a hybrid in and out of my bag on occasion, but no hybrid makes it in unless it goes just as far as my TM retro raylor 19°. TM made some great stuff in those years. I bet your tour spoon will be just as good as anything else out there.

Tiger won the '95 amateur with one of these, I played one in college, still have it.

Yeah, I've just found this picture of him using the Tour Spoon during the 1995 season. I'm guessing this was before Woods switched to his beloved Titleist PT bore-thru.

I play the 3W titanium head reshafted with a UST Laker stiff in it and hit tee shot bombs with it to this day. Just a great head design. Ditch the junk bubble shaft.

I have one & did get it from a former tour player & TM staff member. It’s awesome to this day! Did not have a Burner shaft when I got it instead a TO Aldila.

I also had a 18* Tour Raylor around the same era, with Aldila shaft. Loved that club, except the copper paint on the face looked like crapola after many hits.

I've also got a Taylor Made Burner in my practice bag. None of those modern Bubble Shaft jobs though, I have one of these:


Surprisingly easy to hit and hit straight, and makes that fantastically old school "thpbthpthtt" as it spins through the air. The shaft is about to rust through so it gets limited use these days, great fun though.
