I have a vintage blade problem...

Recommended Posts

I am finding myself wanting to buy every classic blade I see on eBay. Even ones I’d never heard of, if the backs are shiny and the grooves look good, especially if there is a 2i... or even a 1i... Anyone else have this issue? I think I need to join a support group.

A few that I am dying to get my hands on:

Spalding Tour Edition, Custom Crafted

Wilson Staff fg-17

Ben Hogan Apex

Macgregor VIPs

It's not your fault you wanting more clubs....it's your wife's problem. She's not doing her job well enough....she's supposed to give you 'living hell' for even thinking about getting more blades! She needs to kick it up a couple of notches getting on your case big time for you getting too many golf clubs.

There is nothing wrong with your desire to own these beauty.

Just be choosy, don't want to collect a pile of something that you don't use and have little value to the others.

I did notice here has been a revived interest in the older golf equipment. The asking price for the persimmon and blades had been going up steadily.

Those 17s are sweeeeet. I’ve seen the asking price on those in the pic and lawdddd I’d love to have them. They’re hard to find in good shape. I back to playing mine regularly. Awesome irons that flat out work for me!! > @SpaldingBear2PW said:

I think i am going to play with my recently acquired titleist 841s. The bears would need new grips but are gleaming and would look great on display. I am a bit of a diy handyman and plan to make some shadow boxes to show them off. In case anyone is concerned, no I will not cut the shafts to make coat racks with them. Though I may do that with my big bertha ‘04s now that I know what garbage they are.

You will love them. The dowelled hosels give them a unique “strong” feel and nice ball flight.

I love mine.

Bear-

These Titleist Tour Model 841 irons were Titleists answer to losing their golf ball market share on Tours with those Tour players who were on different equipment staffs, and were paid to play other golf balls.

Note- It was the Maxfli HT ball that won all 4 Grand Slam events in 1988.

The "feel intensifiers" aka wood dowels inside these Titleist forged irons were part of their ad campaign. These were the irons which were made in conjunction with the Titleist Staff Tour Model Persimmon Woods, done under contract for Titleist by Joe Powell. LH Joe Powell persimmon woods were available.

Both these Titleist TM Persimmon woods and 841 TM irons were RH Only.

That should be the slogan for this site.

I think 14 steps?

Step 2. 3w

Step 14. Putter

This is what I do as well. I only buy Ben Hogan, except for the occasional emergency purchase of Mizuno, Bridgestone, Powerbilt, Spalding and the others you mentioned above.
