Haven't tested yet, but first impressions didn't disappoint! Laser etching is a nice touch! I'm taking it on the course today and hopefully in the next week can get on a simulator or launch monitor to compare to my current shaft. ampawf2sy22a.jpg

Currently in San Diego on work but I'll be home tomorrow and I believe it's home waiting for me. State Mid-Am is the following weekend so looks like it's straight into the fire with it. Currently playing a Speeder VC TS 6.2x tipped 1" so assuming the transition will be an easy one. Will update throughout the week with range numbers using my portable launch monitor and on course performance.

Received mine yesterday! Was so excited I didnt know what to do with myself. Got it out of the box and was pleasantly surprised with the added personalization. Shaft looks great, no crazy graphics, simple and clean, just how I like it. Plan to get some numbers for everyone this weekend. Will be going into a G410 Plus 9* and will be comparing to an Atmos Black 6x and an Accra TZ6 65 M5. Will keep everyone posted.

First - thanks goes to the teams at both Golfwrx and Fujikura for doing this. I felt honored to get picked after 12 years on this site.

I get a lot of long brown boxes sent to the house but this one I couldn’t wait to open. u95t3v2pxpr0.jpeg

This shaft looks awesome and as everyone else pointed out, the laser etched logo and screen name is a very cool touch.

So here is the test for me, when I can actually get some time to do on the same day. The players in the test as follows

q2a7slmiy8c4.jpeg

The head will be M5 9.5 set up with the weights to help promote draw.

The LM will be a Quad, indoors set at Chicago sea level. The ball will be a ‘19 TP5x. The golfer will unfortunately be me- 54 y/o out of shape guy who has an index of 4.4 but never practices and gets to play about a dozen times per year. Every thinks when you’re in the golf biz you play all the time - but not really.

I will post more as the test starts and continues. Any questions - please ask.

Ok here is first test - 5 decent shots captured with each of the shafts I know and play. Current “gamer” is the Smoke 60. This was conducted with no real warm up and still battled the dreaded elbow issue I’ve had all season.

FEEL Ranking

Ventus - smooth

TP6 - smooth

Smoke - smidge firmer

Atmos - firm

Speeder - firmer ( due to weight )

Cannot get the actual report to load but decent angle is one key measurable I look at.

Ventus - 33.9

Atmos - 29.8

Speeder - 32.3

TP - 6 - 29.3

Smoke - 33.2

So based on numbers for today

Ventus does exactly what Fuji says it does - faster ball speed on off center hits but my smash was the highest with this shaft as well - VeloCore!

Going in the bag for sure to text on course next.

Got some initial numbers this morning and so far I’m very impressed. I only had time to test the Ventus Black 6x against the Atmos Black 6x. The build specifics on each shaft: Atmos black is tipped 1.5”, the Ventus black is untipped. Head is a Ping G410 plus 9*. I set the head up at the standard loft setting and neutral weight setting. I normally play at the big minus loft and fade weight setting but wanted to get a standard baseline to start with. Will play around with settings to optimize for each shaft when I get more time, my 2 year old was very interested in what I was doing so didn’t have much time to tinker.

Performance was really good for not being dialed in. My dispersion was tighter with the Atmos but I feel that had more to do with being familiar with the Atmos. I saw on average a 4 mph jump in ball speed, 2 mph jump in swing speed, 1 degree higher launch, around 400 rpm reduction in backspin, 16 yards carry, and 17 yards total with the Ventus. Smash factor was consistently better with the Ventus as well, though my impact location was more consistent with the Atmos. Basically the Ventus lives up to the marketing.

I can’t wait to get this thing dialed in, gonna be a real monster. I would expect all launch conditions will improve once dialed in.

White data/plots are Atmos, Orange data/plots are Ventus

This is excellent reading! I managed to get the Ventus Black 7X I tried it on the range and for some reason couldn't really gel with it even got it on track man testing with disappointing results however tried it on the course and only missed two fairways all day. Cant wait to do more testing and see if others are getting similar results.

Had my first range session with the Ventus Black 60x. Currently playing a Speeder VC TS 6.2x tipped 1" but it was recommended I go untipped with the Ventus so I did. Did'nt have my launch monitor and there was a strong headwind so distance wasn't easy to measure but first impressions are very very good. Even into the head wind the flight was very strong and flat. The shaft feels every bit as stable as the tipped TS but much smoother, not as "brittle". It almost feels like the Ventus dampens vibration as was noticeable in the sound of the ball off of the face as well. It was a much more muted sound compared to the TS. I'd also say there is something to the shaft being more "forgiving". I feel like I made a couple of swings with poor contact and the result was no where nearly as bad as I expected it to be. The head felt much more resistant to twisting from off center strikes than with the TS. I also liked the fact that for me there was absolutely no adjustment period with the Ventus, none of that weird first couple swings feel it out type deal. Very plag'n'play coming from the TX. I'm assuming it will be the same for people coming from the Atmos Black. As stated previously I have my states Mid-Am this weekend and the Ventus will go straight into the bag with no second thoughts. Hopefully I can get some data to contribute to the thread this week before my round Friday.

I haven't been able to to get any head to head comparison on a launch monitor, but here are my initial thoughts having a couple of range sessions and one round in with the shaft. Again, no data here just feel and subjective observations. It was hard to judge distance and direction on the course because the round had 20+ mph sustained wind and gusting into the 30s.

**For those who don't recall I'm gaming a Project X Even Flow Blue 6.5 65g and I am testing the Fujikura Ventus Red 6X**

* Compared to Even Flow Blue it definitely felt more stable. It's hard to describe the feeling but it definitely felt like there was less twist on mishits & I hit a few on the heel that seemed like they were not punished as severely with the Ventus Red

* I notice that I do not feel the load in transition and kick through impact as much as I do with the Even Flow; however it's only subtly less. I do still feel some load and kick, which I like to feel in a shaft.

* I would say the ball flights were pretty similar in terms of trajectory, definitely a mid flight to both.

* It seems like it takes a bit more effort to get the Ventus Red to draw compared to the Even Flow Blue

I'm really excited to get some numbers and data to solidify the comparison before making a permanent switch, but so far things are pointing to that.

Played 9 holes on Monday and 9 holes today with the Ventus. Summary so far is that it loads and kicks just the way I like it to feel. Hit two drives today that went further than I’ve been previously on those holes so that is nice. I do think I might tip it so that I get better accuracy. If the boys at Fuji agree with this assessment. I “think” the Speeder gives me that point and shoot shot I know. However I don’t want to tip it if this will make it perform worse?

We would strongly recommend against, especially since it is already built and cut to length. It will not improve your accuracy. Your swingweight and feel will be negatively impacted. Also Ventus is possibly the most stable and stiffest tip shafts we've ever produced out of the bag.

Received my Ventus Black shaft yesterday and was able to get out to the range and get some data on my Flightscope Mevo and then play nine holes. I'll get the data summarized tomorrow and provide a more thorough review. Here's a quick summary: WOWSERS!!! I hit every fairway I used driver on (I usually hit about 50%) and hit my longest drives of the year on two holes. It's a performer for sure. On the range I was mostly hitting a 10-15 yard fade with my Matrix 6M3 Black Tie and 5 to 10 yard fades with the Ventus. Off-center hits towards the toe seemed more solid and appeared to carry further with the Ventus. The shaft looks great at address, nothing fancy or gimmicky, which I like.

Below is an Arccos summary of the round that shows distances and a photo of the shaft in my Cally XR6 Pro. It will be interesting to see how the Ventus numbers on the Mevo compare to the Matrix Black Tie I've gamed for two years now. More tomorrow.

Ok then, will leave it as is on tipping. I originally asked for the spec of 451/2” P/L thinking I might go that route. Normal standard for me is 45”. Will swingweight tomorrow to see how many points I will lose and decide whether to cut it.

Thanks for the reply gents!

Disappointed I didn't win. lol Need to get my hands on the black Ventus to test out but that's next to impossible unless I go pay for a fitting at cc. Feeling the urge to find a new Fuji to replace my Speeder Evo I that doesn't have as much going on with graphics on the shaft.

OK, here are some more details and Flight scope Mevo results that compare the Ventus Black with my Matrix Black Tie 6M3 both in my Cally XR Pro.. The first set of numbers are mine and the second are another player who was on the range who hits the ball very similar to me.

My Averages

dsh1m160ngcm.png

Player # 2 Averages

g3ocevz9ldgd.png

We both saw an increase in carry distance with the Ventus, me more so. We also both saw a nice decrease in backspin, again I saw a greater decrease. Interestingly I saw nearly a one degree decrease in launch angle, but the other player saw an almost one degree increase with the Ventus. Our smash factors were almost identical between shaft.

Now on the course I perceived a much greater difference between the Ventus and what I would typically suspect. The Ventus seemed much more precise and consistent, and also seemed to have a more boring trajectory than I'm used to. Offcenter hits high on the toe seemed to have less distance loss and didn't veer as far off course. A couple of those fairways I hit yesterday (see above) were in by only a couple yards and likely would have missed the fairway with my normal shaft.

Now the feel is interesting and hard to describe. I usually describe shaft feel in terms such as stable or loose. I guess some would call that stout and smooth. To be honest, I'm not much of a feel player but have found that shafts described as "smooth", such as the Diamana series, tend to perform poorer for me. It's not the shafts fault obviously, it's just how those shafts affect my herky-jerky swing. The Matrix Black Tie I've been playing for two years (longest stretch for a single shaft in recent memory) would be considered a pretty stout, boardy, stiff, etc... shaft. Now comes the Ventus, which honestly felt different than any shaft I've played before. Now I've gamed a few shafts over the years; Rombax series, Diamana's (white, blue, 'Ahina), Motore Speeder VC series, Attas Elements, Project X 6c12 (tour only), Oban Devotion, Matrix HD, Aldla RIP........ The Ventus feels different than any of those to me. It's hard to describe but it has a very stable but active feel (not loose), but isn't boardy or stout feeling, and not loose feeling either. Like I said, hard to describe.

So, overall for me, this is a real winner. It does everything I want; increased distance and more importantly to me, increased accuracy. Both of which equate to increased confidence. It's kicked the Matrix out of the bag after two years. I'll post more as I get a few more rounds in with it. Please post any questions and I'll try my best to answer.
