Playing irons such as Callaway X-forged or TM P790

Just curious, I'm not a long hitter (age 65, GHIN Index 13.0), but about 1.5 yrs ago got fitted down (down in weight) from a set of Mizuno JPX900-HM w/NS ProModus Tour 105 Stiff to Callaway Rogue Pro w/Recoil graphite 760 ES F2 (68-gm/Reg)....almost 40-gm less shaft weight. I balked at first, kept at it, exchanged out the steel for graphite and back and forth for a while, then did that with my other steel set that I hit easier than the ProModus.... i.e., the KPS Tour 90 Stiff, and back and forth with the graphites until I've 'learned how to play the graphites' and now have used the graphites exclusively for last 9 months. I must say, the ache in my elbow has never come back; also, since changing out the Golf Pride grips that came with my graphites to Winn DriTac, I don't even need tape on my fingers even after long range sessions. I'm elbow-ache/finger-tape FREE!! **OK, so my question.... I don't have a problem hitting irons (no toe or heel hits, or so few and far between that I don't recall them), so would it be strange to consider something like Callaway X-forged or TM P790's or the new Mizuno MP20's with graphite shafts with F3/F2 flexes?** Some of these clubs are only presented with stiff flex or heavy steel shafts. Was curious to see the TM P790 shaft offerings even had Recoil F2 (senior) flex available (link below) I just added a 4-iron from Callaway Pre-owned "like new" to my 5-AW Rogue Pro set (F3 flex/Reg), but didn't notice it was Recoil 760 F2 (senior) and wow, can I smack that so nicely....185-200 yards. Even had me considering whether I should drop down to F2 for some of the other long irons, but don't want to mess up the gaps and might just leave the F2 flex on the longest iron. So would the logical recommendation be to pick up 1 iron of those mentioned and see how I play it in graphite? I still miss the weight of the steel as sometimes I lose the feel with the graphite iron being so lite during my swing.

X-Forged and P790 are in different classes of clubs. The X-Forged are more like the P760. P790 is the TM equivalent of the Callaway CF19 Apex clubs - or the Mizuno Hot Metal Pro.

The MP20 are more like the X-Forged.

Also if you're playing the Rogue Pros right now, you may be slightly off center on your hits but you wouldnt know since the club is helping a bit. The MP20 or the P770 or X Forged will let you know quickly!

Hmmm.... was at Golf Galaxy last night and as I walked by the left-hand hitting bay (racks of left hand clubs in front of it and the ball monitor set up for left-hand), I plucked out the Taylormade P790 with NS Pro 950 shaft, and I could not believe how much the ball came off the face 'like butter', very smooth. I don't think I've hit balls off irons with that kind of feel. The feeling felt like the reverence many a Mizuno player have talked about Mizuno clubs of old. But I was distracted with spending time with the putters....checking out the Odyssey Stoke Lab putters.

Consider a single P790 with the standard shaft, the DG105 VSS. The VSS is quite effective without removing the great feel you experienced from a well-hit shot.
