If like the majority of golfers they prefer the sound and feel of a low-compression ball, then that's a benefit. Beyond sound and feel, no benefit.

A low compression ball will be shorter for all swing speeds... PEROID. If you are a long hitter then maybe the sound of the softer ball will outweigh the distance loss

I see this same comment frequently and I have to say that after comparing many different balls over the course of the last couple years, it’s not true for me and my swing. I tend to hit the ball too high with too much spin and softer balls that spin less give me more distance throughout the bag.

I like the Z-Star XV a lot and actually prefer the firmer feel, but the Q-Star Tour is noticeably longer off the tee and probably half a club or so longer off the irons for me.

Maybe I have the perfect storm of a slowish swing speed (<100mph driver) that still produces too much spin, but lower compression balls are definitely longer for me.

It's not true for most people which is why you see the results you do.

No not really. Ball speed will be slower, but if launch and spin makes up for this (and sometimes is the case in slower swing speeds) a softer compression ball can be longer for some.

To answer the OP... first question is a hard no. Second question is well subject to whoever your asking.

The other way around, because you don’t add a lot of spin that QStar was made, to add more. A pro player can’t play that ball, as it would spin it out of this planet. Try it on a trackman outside.

1. Possibly. A high swing speed player is also generally a high spin player. A softer ball generates less spin with the mid to short irons and wedges. It also generates less green side spin. If you really need to kill spin and aren't worried about giving up a few MPH of ball speed, it's possible that a softer ball can help you.

2. The two Bridgestone balls (BRX and BRXS), Srixon Q-Star Tour, and Wilson Duo Pro.
