2019 Indy Women in Tech Championship Sep 26 - 29

**History:** This is the 3rd year for the event. In 2018, Sung Hyun Park won in a playoff after firing a final round 4-under par, 68 to share the lead with Lizette Salas at 23-under to end regulation on Sunday.

OK, back to our regularly scheduled programming. Field strength is fairly decent with over half of the World Top 20 playing ( Sung Hyun, Lexi, Brooke, Ariya, Inbee, Sei Young, So Yeon, Hyo Joo, Danielle, Hannah, and Amy). TV Coverage is fairly good with 14 hours of airtime. The weather looks great with highs in the mid 70's to mid 80's.

I'm going to pick Sung Hyun to defend her title this week. She had a pair of 20T's at her last two tournaments, but had five top tens prior to that, including a win and a 2nd. Amy and Danielle should be in the hunt as well.

I'll be attended the tournament on Friday, and very likely Saturday afternoon. I'll post pics and observations when I get a few free minutes.

Enjoy, your time there. This looks like a quirky course. Also looks like this event only has 130 entries. Any idea, why some "full-field" events range from 120 all the way to 144?

Brickyard Crossing is a typical Pete Dye design with its share of railroad ties and watery hazards. Three holes are played in the infield of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I assume the entry list is shorter because daylight is getting short. Sunrise is at 7:35 am, and sunset is at 7:35 pm.

Four holes are inside the track. Normally holes 7, 8, 9, & 10. They are changed to holes 15-18 for the LPGA. I don't know the exact reasoning behind this, besides maybe they want to finish inside the track.

Doh. Yeah, it's four holes, not three. The 18th is a great/tough finishing hole, long with Little Eagle Creek running along the right side of the fairway and green. My theory is that they don't think there's enough room around the green to set up the grandstands and hospitality suites. Just to the left/rear of the green is a barn, and the maintenance facility. It would be a very tight squeeze. The 10th is a short par 4, and probably provides more birdie opportunities for an exciting finish. There's also more room behind the green for grandstands/suites.

Going with Sei Young, expecting Brooke and Angel to play well. Still hoping Su Oh breaks through, sounds like a good sleeper pick too.

Lydia Ko battles and Azahara Munoz for the victory on Sunday. Ko drinks the milk and kisses the bricks.

Pairings are out. It's going to be a busy day for me on Friday. After catching the morning wave players on the range, I'll follow In Gee's group for their round, and then fall back to pick up So Yeon and Brook two groups behind. In the afternoon I'll follow Lydia and Sung Hyun's group for a dozen holes before falling back two groups to pick up Hee Young for the remainder of her round.

Please help to discern whether In Gee's issue is physical or mental!

I am once again jealous of Argonne ... very solid itinerary, hope it's a great trip!

So many players I love here. Go Hee Young, you can do it!

Looks like conditions are ripe for scoring. The early morning leaders are 3 under after a handful of holes.

So much for my prediction of Lydia contending. She'll be lucky to make the cut with a +1 opening round, ten shots behind the leader MJ.

I was there yesterday, today and will be the next three days as well. Too bad it is in it's last year :(

Yes I was hoping Lydia would do well too. Last year she shot a -7 to -8 one round. I met her yesterday and got a few pics. She is very nice. Met Brooke today and she is super sweet. I am now a full fledged fan of Brooke.

What a resurgence from MJ Hur! On the other end of the spectrum, many of the historically great/big name players continue to do nothing.

I thought HJK may have a good week. She still has a handful of tournament left but it will be odd if she doesn't book a win this year with her scoring average. I think last time I looked Ariya and Ciganda were the other players that had pretty good stats and no win this year (Ariya obviously off her prior levels by a fair margin though. Not sure it is surprising with Ciganda).

I fear HYP only has one more week if she doesn't book a high finish in TX and creep back into the top 100.

Nice to see Bronte still fired up. Also nice seeing Pornanong and Chella playing well.

I was shocked to see Cheyenne Woods shooting a 68, it's seriously only the fifth time this year she's shot a round under 70.

Yeah, not sure what happened to Hee Young today. She went low at Thornberry on Friday to make the cut when I followed her, so hopefully I can bring her some luck tomorrow.

Other than Jin Young Ko; the last three winners have been Hinako Shibuno, Mi Jung Hur and Hannah Green.

It's been shaping up as Jin Young Ko and everyone else.

Top players Sung Hyun, Lexi, Minjee and Ariya haven't been distinguishing themselves recently.

It seems every player has a chance to win every week except Lydia Ko, So Yeon Ryu and In Gee Chun.

Lol. It's too early to be up, nevermind on the range before the sun rises.

Glad you're there so we can benefit from your posts here.

My son was out there yesterday and will be today as well. He mentioned last night how much fun it was and that he enjoyed it more than the PGA events he's attended.

By the way, if the restaurant is open upstairs, they have fantastic bbq.
