Well, I have wanted to go play Haggin Oaks, the Mackenzie course there so maybe we’ll need to make that happen, although I don’t smoke cigars or drink wine. Make mine a Sativa and a beer ?

Thank you - some people search out vintage clubs, so I suppose it's a reflection on my own vintage (pronounced “age”) that these were ones I actually played! I have some other Wilson sets (1969, 1975) I'll add some pics of them, too

1976 or 1977 Staff, 2 - pw.

Sharp leading edge - tough on a wet course. Love the look of these with the art deco script and bullet back.

Most recently played last summer when me and a buddy went out and limited each other to 3 clubs and a putter...and played pretty well all things considered. Brought out the 5-iron, 8-iron, and PW...and let him pick the putter for me, and he chose an old MacGregor Perry Como model that had what seemed to be a convex face.

Man some pristine stuff---I am drooling over the Macs but the Top-Flites being custom look like they were custom ground based off the 73 Elites. Back in the day Spalding had a really great custom department. You could get any grind with any stamping that is why you can see some 53 Top Flite grinds with 67 Bird on the Ball stampings.

Pretty sure these were made in the 80's...I remember sending them to Spalding to have them cranked a couple of degrees, too, and back then, Spalding golf department was really good. Compared to modern lofts, these were 3 or 4* weak. But they were like butter, that's for sure. Haven't taken them out for a spin in years! Shafts are silver label Dynamic TT Stiff.

53 TF ++ They were in Geiberger's bag when he did a corporate outing back around 79-80 for std brands (mr peanut) when I was a kid caddy. His swing was pure, man, pure buttah.

I know!! Can you believe it? I might have chipped a ball here and there, but I always thought...some day....some day... But that day never came. Now a legacy for my son and he can come post here in 20 years!

My favorite set of blades, put them above Mizuno TN87, Maruman Conductors, Founders 200 series, Redlines, Yamaha SX25 Hal Suttons - and its not even close.

53 Top Flites were some of the "Holy Grail" sets back when I was growing up. The better players and hustlers played those. Easily identified by the triangle stamping on the back. The reason I know about the custom Bird on the Ball 53 forgings was because one of the hustlers played a set of 53s. He wore them slap out. He liked the looks of the 67 Top Flites so he had the old man order a set. He did not hit them as well. The old man made a call to Spalding (he had contacts everywhere) and talked to them. About 3 weeks later the guy had his 53 Bird on the Ball Top Flites. He liked them so much he had the old man order the second set for a spare. That guy is long passed away. Do not know what happened to those clubs. I do know a few years back a set showed up on E -Bay pristine and the seller knew what he had. Evidently the buyer knew too because they were sold quick. I do not know if that was the guys second set or if others were made. I do know when Spalding was in decline they marketed a horrible cast remake of the 53s called the Elite Legacy. Those things hit like crap compared to a real 53

I thought the buttonbacks came in 70/71 - 73-ish if I recall correctly...the 69 staffs were THE classic bullet back, no?

57- Nice avatar.

The Wilson Staff Dynapower iron series were from 1957-1975. (Staff Model, Dynapower, Fluid Feel)

Some notable years of the Dynapower models-

'58- Dyna-Powered Staff Model with Flag, frosted parallels framing scoring lines, with Fluid Feel and Arrow

on hosel. '58 Sand Wedges became sought after, and resulted in a "Remake" model years later.

'69-'70 - Bulletbacks- for the "Bullet" grind

'71 -'72- Buttonbacks- for the "W/S" button- Note- These Sand Wedges were not stamped "Dynapower"

'73 -'75- Adjustabacks- for the Adjustable weight port- which could be changed with a metal spike wrench.

'76- Bicentennial "Staff" which had a "bullet" grind in the back pad, but no "Fluid Feel" hosel

Bulletbacks and Buttonbacks were also given "remake" model status in the mid-80s. Where the original iron models were RH/LH, the remakes were RH Only.
