When your bag is finally finished :(

So over the last 3 months I have been working on each club at seperate times to get fitted for everything perfectly.

From shafts to heads to lofts and lies I've done the lot except wedges which are booked in for next week.

I've always been a huge fiddler and love changing clubs and putters. Unfortunately I now find myself in a spot where I no what I have is best for me but now I don't know what to fill my spare time with. I look on eBay and FB pages and want to fiddle so bad but know it's not the right move so I need some help! What else can I do? Do I just change bag weekly instead, start talking to my wife? Playing with the kids surely it hasn't come to this haha!!

Used to change clubs weekly, then the wife said if I keep on this path she is calling a divorce lawyer. This worked for me! I am allowed one change/year.

It's definitely a tough situation that I deal with as well. I was searching for the right putter and found it, yet I've bought several putters since. Hard to stop tinkering and trying new equipment, especially when you struggle with a part of your game. The moment that putter lets you down, or hybrid, or long iron, etc, you think, maybe I should try this other club and see if it improves my trajectory, dispersion, 5 foot putts, long putts, etc...

I remember when I never bought any new equipment for years and kinda miss that. On the other hand it's fun and exciting to get a new club. Feels a little bit like Christmas morning as a kid.

This site doesn't help with that. All this exposure to different options whether they are brand new or used on the BST forum or ideas that lead you to ebay. If you want to cut back on clubs, you'll probably want to cut back on here. Outta site outta mind.

Honestly?

Go practice and actually work on something which will make you a better player.

Best antidote for what you're describing is hitting some good shots with the clubs you have.

You're always going to prefer the rush of buying something until you start getting a rush from hitting good shots. That's the only answer.

I like tinkering and consider it part of the fun. But I like shiny new things.

I built myself an indoor setup and def have been hitting balls daily. I used to have a Scotty collection also but sold them all to pay to finish our house we were building! I have a nice putter ATM and as someone who used to collect putters man I want to swap it in and out but this thing just works for me and I would rather shoot low scores then have a sexy custom putter lol. I went out yesterday and hopped I putter terrible so I could justify getting a PXG centre shaft but I didn't so I won't hahahha

Yer for sure. ATM it's a drought here so very dry with alot of run so added a 4 iron and took out a wedge for example. Also got some new head covers, divot tool, ball markers and valuable bag through TXG yesterday to help with my shopping fix haha! As someone mentioned above I think I need to use the hitting good scores as my "fix" opposed to getting something new!

I think testing stuff on the course is the part of the journey to getting the right gear. A club fitting can get you a good way there, but getting that confirmation on course is everything.

We have a young and stylish guy in our group who changes out his bag, headcovers, towel and apparel weekly and creates a theme. He's actually quite fashionable.

This past year he rotated three sets of irons.

Mizuno mp15, MacGregor Tourney PCB Tours, Srixon ztx.

He had the worst year of the past three. Okay then...

As someone with champagne dreams and a high life budget... Here are some of the things I'd do if I had a bag set..

Chase down some old iron sets I desired when I was younger. Specifically the Adams CMB and original Hogans. Build them out to my specs as a back up bag.

I'm planning on trying to gun metal my current irons once I replace them... I'm playing Taylor Made Oversize from 1996ish... I bought them used with my summer job money. They are still in my bag.... They deserve a nice retirement when I replace them. In my ideal world, I'd get them refinished and publish a fake news release here on April 1 about them relaunching old irons rebranded.

Buy a long drive driver (I already did this. It fucked up my tempo and I regret nothing)

Honestly, your bag is set, and the only thing to replace it is a unicorn... so maybe chase unicorns?

Or get better at golf, but that seems foolish.

My bag was literally dialed in at the biginning of the season. Did it last? Almost everything remains accept a new driver and wedge number change. I force myself to sell before I ever buy. Now it’s perfect! So what do I do you ask?? I buy a brand new set of Wilson Staff MB’s, ? nuts ?

I've spent the entire year testing every urethane ball on the market. With the Direct to Consumer market there are an absurd amount of choices in the golf ball space now. Everytime I think I'm nearing the end someone releases a new ball. It never ends. The worst part is as I'm finally getting close all of the big guys are hitting their two year cycles and releasing new versions of their balls. So back to square 1 I guess :D

After having changed my gamers, from driver to LW, in January, having purchased a second set of irons for back up/training aid and adding a third putter to my bag, I am right there now.

Mackenzie Walker Bag (waxed canvas) and Seamus Golf headcovers and towel. I take it as autumn/winter hobby, since I will not need the bag before next spring.

Thanks, bunch of psychos that are feeding me with such bad ideas!! I concur that this forum is too dangerous for a weak and passionate man.
