Anyone else get a sleeve of TruFeel balls today?

Mine came from Titleist as a test, in a couple of weeks I will receive a form to fill out for a review. I assume I got it as a member of a Team Titleist

Yes, but it says it is the softest Titleist ever for longer distance. I have a 110+ driver speed so we shall see. I hope to get out next week and will informally compare it to a variety of balls.

They seem to have them in stock at my local PGATSS. Will pick up a dozen in the morning and play a round with them in the afternoon. I'll leave my comments afterwards.

I think I was supposed to get these a couple of weeks ago because the note with them said you are receiving these before the release date of 9/27.

As I said I would, I bought a dozen from my local PGATSS this morning and played a round with them this afternoon. Not the whole round but a few holes. First 2 holes I played the DT Trusoft. The next 3, the TruFeel. They are similar in performance with the TruFeel maybe slightly lower flight. Equally as straight. It feels a little firmer to me and the sound is more of a “kah” rather than the “koh” of the Trusoft. So I’d say firmer core, softer cover. Softer off the putter and wedge to me. Spins about the same by my eye and how it hits the greens (not backed by launch monitor info). I didn’t try with driver though. No problems with durability— I was using a brand new CBX 2 with full and half shots.

Easy transition from old to new in my opinion.

The dimples look smaller and deeper to me. I took both balls to the putting green today, there is a slight difference in sound but it didn’t detect much difference in feel.

My review:

Ball wasn’t durable enough to last even a round ( three balls hit into the woods)

Actually the ball feels more like a Callaway Supersoft with a click sound which I don’t mind. Very similar distance to the TruSoft and ball flight off driver. I like it .

I tried this ball Saturday at elevation. I really saw no difference between it and the dt trusoft. It is a point and shoot 2 piece with decent manners around the green. I hit it next to a pinnacle soft I found in the range bucket for a few holes. the PS seemed to roll more after landing leading to a few more yards but nothing substantial. The tru feel launched a little higher. Later in the round I switched to the QST vs E12 soft. The E12 soft had a little more pop in the driver, especially in the wind. Both of these balls are a little more shapeable than the 2 piece version of titileist or bridgestone (e6). Now that my city senior event is over where I played my remaining gamer softs I intend to play the e12 soft going forward. It is the closest I have found to the GS ball.

Interesting, I played it alongside the Diablo Tour and found it to be softer of course and a bit better spin on my knock down shots which I use from about 120 on in.

Has anyone used the alignment aid?

Regarding the e12 soft being like a gamersoft. Does it apply to the matte balls or just white? It's surlyn, 3 piece, 50 compression/mid-soft. Some spin, Sounds close.

@Tanner25

I have only used the white e12 soft- no matte or yellow ones. For me the biggest difference is it seems to launch a little lower on mid irons and won't stop quite as quickly on firmer greens. The thing about the GS I noticed is it seems to have another bit of length if I step on a shot. For instance I put in play a few rounds before a senior city tourney I just played. In this one particular practice round the last hole is a 490 yd par 5 that played into a half club wind and has a second shot where the last 50 yards is 20 feet uphill. I hit my best drive of the day and had 215 left. I only carry a 4wd so I hit it full and flew the ball just in front of the green where it released 15 ft past the hole for eagle; even made the putt. I don't think ANY ball I have tried in the last 18 months ( 15 and counting) would have acted the same on the two swings. The e12 soft is as close as I have found all around but it lacks the extra pop I get from the GS when I strike it just right.

Good to know, the GS flat our performs and had just the right feel too. What a shame to lose it. Maybe, one day the DSG folks will realize it. Oddly enough it was the gamer urethane ball that survived.

Played 36 holes yesterday (last nice day before rain/snow show up this weekend so I made the most of it) and I played the TruFeels for the 2nd 18. My normal ball is the TP5X and honestly, I did not notice much of a difference between the two of them distance wise or with stopping power on full iron/wedge shots. The only real noticeable difference were on some more delicate shots. Not as much as I was expecting though, so there were a few pitch/chip shots that were about 5 feet shorter than I thought. I was expecting more roll out with the TruFeel, but they played really well. Given the retail price and my somewhat lower expectations of these I'm kind of liking this ball when comparing it to the TP5X. I don't feel that I was losing any distance with these, especially not with my irons and my drives seemed to be ending up in my 'normal' areas on the course. They also felt very nice off the club face and I actually really liked them on the green. Good cover durability clanking it off a couple of trees and some shots out of the sand and only cover discoloration from the tree hits. Not sure if I will play them next year, but I will probably play the rest of the year out with them and keep my remaining stock of TP5X for winter sim golf.

Played 18 with the TruFeel today.

Here’s my review.

Nice, soft feel. Not too soft...pretty much just right. Good off the driver distance-wise. And with wedges it stopped really quickly for me on hard, fast greens. I was very impressed with its stopping power. And I love the alignment lines on it. Made me more confident with putts though I made basically nothing.

However (and unfortunately I think this is going to be a deal breaker), twice during my round it just exploded off my clubface and I flew the greens by 20 yards in both cases which led to double bogies (I got in some tough spots). It happened on the first hole, and so frankly I spent the rest of the day trying to figure out my iron distances. I didn’t know whether to hit a hard this or a soft that or what, and that cost me more strokes. But once I was on the back I somewhat chalked it up to a mistake by me on an easy swing PW. Until the 16th hole. Had a 6 iron into a green. Playing partner who is similar in length to me hit 6. I hit it and again flew the green by 20 yards. It just rocketed off my clubface.

So anyway, overall a great ball around the greens with good feel at a good price point, but unfortunately I probably won’t play it long term because of the exploded iron shots.
