Which ball were you playing when ProV1 hit the scene?

I was helping clear out the attic at my parents house over the weekend and happened to find my one of my old golf bags, one which I used in the 1999-2000 era. I was in high school from 2000-2004 and got a snazzy team PING Hoofer during the fall of 2000, so that is when this bag would have last been used - just months before the release of the original ProV1.

The answer for myself (and what I found in the bag)? Maxfli Revolution and Precept MC Tour Premium. I had some Titleist Professionals in the bag as well, but I'm pretty sure those were provided by our golf coach rather than something I bought myself.

Probably the Hogan 392LS unless it was a a really difficult course then it would have been the Titleist Professional.

I had just moved from the Precept EV Extra Spin to the MC Tour Premium. And I still have a couple sleeves of those original Prov1 balls in the plain white box from before they went for sale.

Mostly Maxfli Revolution. The best urethane covered wound ball ever. Also from time to time I played the Titleist Professional, Titleist Tour Distance 100 and the Maxfli XS Tour which for a two piece surlyn ball was a really really good ball that was used on tour.

The A10 was released after the Pro V1. Maxfli first released the Revolution Solid to answer the Pro V1. IMO the Rev Solid was a piece of junk. Helped kill the Revolution ball name. The A10 was an excellent ball. Still have a brand new dozen of the A10 somewhere in my house. Maxfli had an interesting ball line then.

Probably the Top Flite XL2000 Extra Spin, or the Revolution.

Big Maxfli fan in those days. Agree with @grm24, it was a ridiculously good ball. As were the Srixon HiBrid, A10, and M3 Red/Black...

The only Callaway ball produced when the Pro V1 was released to retail in early 2001 were the Rule 35 Red/Blue golf balls. The Rule 35 ball was released in 2000.

Ed didn't you play the Wilson I-Wound ball back then as well? Or did you just test them out?

I had a lot of fun with the Rule 35 blues back then. I'd hit these 30 yard wedge shots that didn't get more 15 feet off of the ground and back them up 30 feet. Those things spun like a top.

I did play those for a while, yes, but only towards the end of their life cycle. They were fairly interesting, got a bad rap due to having "wound" in the name.

I used the Professional 90 and/or the Tour Prestige 90. Prior to that Tour 90 and at times I played with a Rextar pro-model. That was Faldo's ball for a spell. Happy days.

I was in hd 98-00... my favorites were revolution and professional if i could get my hands on them. Our coach/school was cheap tho and handed us precept ev spins.
