Kevin Na cryptic Korean statement

hlca

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what rumors he's referencing in his Korean statement? https://www.golf.com/news/2019/10/07/kevin-na-cryptic-remarks-korean-fans-win-refers-false-rumors/

> “To my Korean fans, for always supporting and believing in me despite all these false rumors. I want to say thank you. No matter what anyone said about me, I have been very happy. So as I kept my mouth shut, I feel like I showed you my feelings with my clubs today. Even as I bit my tongue, I have gotten to this point. Thank you to my fans again, I will see you soon at the CJ Cup.”

Couple of months ago he and his family was supposed to be on this Korean reality TV show where they show his personal life. When this show was about to be aired, a woman started posting on social media that she was engaged to him but he broke off the marriage and she claimed that she was treated like a sex slave. And apparently she sued him and got compensation in 2015. It was all over Korean news and ultimately the TV show was cancelled. I think he was responding to that allegation that not everything you hear on the news is correct.

Interesting. It always makes me wonder when compensation is paid out, but denials continue. I don't know and don't care about his personal life. To me Na is someone that I think would be a absolute blast to play a round of golf with.

And even better if he brings Kenny.

And that's why many famous people and athlete's do it. They want it to be over and accusers know that.

I know it is easy to say, but. If I was in that position I would say. "lets go to court". I would want to make sure everyone knew I was innocent and the claims were false. (if they indeed where). I would want to remove as much doubt as possible as to my character. I understand if not everyone feels that way and many would rather just have it over with.

I probably would too, but as soon as someone begins to cry tears of abuse, it's hard to fight against that unless you have solid proof other than your name.

In any language, sounds like it pained him greatly to even talk about it.

It’s been an emotional roller coaster for this guy this week between defending the Korean guy who flipped off spectators to winning this weekend to addressing whatever the situation he was dealing with in Korea.

That’s a lot of stuff!!

I'm a fan of Na as he has matured but wasn't always the good guy he is today. I recall the staff at Los Serranos didn't have anything good to say about him back in the day before he turned pro at 18.

Also another story which my friend confirmed when he was a member as TPC Valencia (no longer a TPC course) where Na was already a pro and came in demanding a membership saying something like "do you know who the f#%! I am?" Lol, they gave a membership to little known Jason Gore instead.

I'm glad he's figured things out and a better man today.

I know that’s everyone’s gut reaction at first, but when you factor in all the things that go with it: massive negative publicity until it’s over, dragging friends and family members into depositions and court testimony, increasingly costly legal bills that can easily reach into the hundreds of thousands of dollars (while the accuser probably has an attorney with a contingency agreement, so no money out of his/her pocket), and no guarantee that a jury will believe the truth . . .

a small payout for a quick resolution and no admission of guilt becomes a very attractive insurance policy.

I’m not saying it’s right, I’m just saying it’s the way it is.

http://www.koreatimesus.com/s-korean-court-orders-golfer-kevin-na-to-pay-ex-fiancee-170000/

“A South Korean court in Seoul ordered PGA Tour golfer Kevin Na to pay his ex-fiancée 200 million won (about US$170,000) after the athlete broke off the engagement.

The two met through a dating agency back in 2013 and were engaged soon afterward. They traveled together from tournament to tournament and Na’s fiancee said that expense totaled 100 million won ($85,000)

After Na broke up with her, she filed a 500 million won ($420,000) lawsuit for financial damages among other legal grounds.”

Theres a bit more....good that this issue seems to be resolved.

But always easier said than done - only one way to know for sure, hope you never have to really make that decision.

LOL, I read that. I thought maybe could use some of that info to my advantage, but my wife would probably buy me a few bottles of Scotch and a carton of Winston Lights instead!

Was Kevin Na the dude that shot a 16 on a par 4 somewhere in Texas some years ago? And the following year, when he went back, during the pro-Am he was allowed to take out a chain saw and cut the small tree(s) that he was stuck in (in a stand of trees) for a while?

its easy to say now because you personally have nothing to lose. Its extremely stressful on you and your family. things could come out that even if they are 100% false could cost him his current marriage and sponsorship. Na has money but doesnt have FU money. Alot of people talked like you did before making it big and then see its not so easy. Ask tiger

Just watched the replay of the playoff. Could care less about some breach of promise crap.

Looks like a very happy mom, dad and little daughter on the green and after the round - very happy for them!

Great interview after the round also, loved his answers, even the part I couldn't understand, but was watching for Godzilla to come out of that pond! Awesome!
