Undeniably, Fujikura makes some nice shafts but the only golf shaft companies being chased is Mitsubishi Chemical and Aldila. Slapping fancy carbon fibre together doesn’t equal superior performance and feel. The way Fujikura structured their Speeder Evolution line is as confusing as hell! Then there are all these Speeder spin off models (Air, TR and Jewel etc) which add more confusion for the consumer IMHO.

Have to agree here. All of the Speeder variants plus the way the Speeder Evolution profiles are laid out make everything very confusing. The Ventus and Atoms should be the way things are done throughout their shaft lineup.

I think it is great. Would love to try this one. Plus it looks cool. While more options is not always better and can cause buyers to pass do to confusion and choice paralysis. I think that Fuji is absolutely on the forefront of shaft design. They are not behind or chasing anyone.

Mind you that I am not saying they are ahead of anyone as well. I think all these shaft companies are running neck and neck creating tweaks to products to try and fit more people.

$700 shaft though.. sheesh. Thats pricey.

I love Fuji stuff and they make some of my favorite shafts, but to suggest they are ahead of Mitsubishi is a little silly. I mean this shaft is sourcing proprietary materials FROM Mitsubishi themselves, and with MRC's dominance in both the OEM and aftermarket areas, I think it is safe to say they are the top dog for now. That is nothing against Fuji but more just a comment on how much of the market share MRC owns.

Thank you for the props about our ATMOS and Ventus lines. Our Japan produced products do not follow a similar formula and we apologize for any confusions. never hesitate to DM us with questions.

We're very open to feedback from the GolfWRX community. We know an $800 seems very high and we're doing our best to balance different segments of the market. We'd love to know from you guys what is NOT smoke and mirrors and what makes sense for golf shafts,. What information or validation resonates with you to justify premium price points?

I have no problem with $300-$400 for premium shafts when considering the true cost of sponsorship, manufacturing, facilities, employees, and advertising. However; north of $400 is tough for me to justify being vaguely familiar several carbon fiber manufacturers and understanding their costs (which I understand are very far from your costs). I removed my comment because I recently hit Ventus and was blown away, it is a phenomenal product. Smoke and mirrors applies for me past a certain price ceiling(that $400-$500) range for me, I think cost becomes too inflated versus other products that are extremely similar in most cases.

All of which means I likely not the demo target here.

lol, seriously!!! Although I am with @gioguy21 on feelings about "2 steps behind" Thanks to @"Fujikura Golf" for sending me the Atmos Black a few years back and I tested it against HZRDUS line and then later the EF line. While the ATMOS is a very nice shaft but I didn't find it to be mindblowing.

I also agree that $800 price tag is somewhat silly. This isn't something that will be landing on Mars, and I truly do not believe the engineering involved in THAT expensive. This day and age, among all the crazy expensive clubs, outrageous price makes this a gimmick, not necessarily a super premium product. I recall Project X original HZRDUS T1100 had a estimated MSRP of $1200 and everyone cringed. When it was released, the price was a much more reasonable $400.

likely spring 2020. Stay tuned.

Also, in regards to being a leader or 2 steps behind, we have tried, and will continue to, show the WRX community who we are and what we do in hopes you're able to draw your own conclusions about which shaft brand(s) are leaders in the space. Events like the Fuji Experience we did this year is an example of that where we invite some guys to our HQ and have them share their experiences about our company. We will also do our best to try to learn from you guys on what are important factors when it comes to shaft buying decisions and brand perceptions, so please keep the feedback coming.

I will echo this. I was blown away by the amount of care and love for developing a product when I was down at the Fuji headquarters. These are guys the love golf, love gear, and want to put out the best stuff they can. I do not think they are a step, much less two behind anyone.

The price tag is definitely steep, but I don't know about "silly" if we actually break it down. All of these materials, especially the ones applied to the full shaft, are the materials used strategically to reinforce the otherwise premium shafts and are omitted from the budget OEM shafts. That suggests these materials have enough cost associated with them to warrant omission when budget is a priority. Yes shafts definitely have pretty big markup, but prepregs still aren't cheap, and are throwing a lot into this shaft.

Normally with all these super strong materials you are getting either insane stability while still feeling smooth or insane smoothness while still being stable. Based on the specs it would seem they are going for the latter and I wouldn't be surprised if the shaft felt incredible for the smooth swinger. I'm still a bit miffed at the "mid/high launch, low spin" claims but that is a different discussion, hah.

I am gaming the Fuji Speeder TR and it’s one of the best feeling shafts I have ever hit!

Fuji makes great shafts and their Ventus line is worth every penny. I’ve gone from the Fuji Evo II to the OG Fuji Pro TS to the Ventus Blue and I couldn’t be happier. Have tried to plug and play others (Aldila Rogue Black and Silver, HZRDUS Black and Smoke Green, Tensei CK White) but I always come back to my Fujikuras as they flat out perform. Looking forward to trying the Ventus Red in my fairways soon and making the upgrade.
