Brooks vs Rory - Rivalry?

Interesting quotes coming from Brooks Koepka whilst he is in Korea for the CJ Cup. Copied and pasted it below...

“I’ve been out here for, what, five years. Rory hasn’t won a major since I’ve been on the PGA Tour. So I just don’t view it as a rivalry,” There is more on it on the link below but I thought it would be worthwhile sharing here. Interesting approach from Brooks. Might this be the spark that Rory needs?

LOL, media tries to create a rivalry and Brooks manages to poke the bear! It's on!

Brooks isn’t Rory....maybe he will be some day but he’s not there at present...

He should keep his head down and let his play do the talking...

But all too often he sounds like a d-**g whenever he talks.

Brooks has been playing better golf in the bigger events than Rory the last couple of years. No one can argue otherwise. But to say Rory is the most overrated golfer ever is just plain stupid.

Just look at the career resumes Chris posted. McIlroy’s is clearly better.

When brooks was struggling on European and challenge tour Rory was already winning tournaments and majors he may have forgotten that

Not a big deal really. Brooks just confirmed two things we already knew.

1. He’s the best player in the game right now.

2. He’s a gigantic douche.

I think Brooks would have had a better argument if he had been younger than Rory. They are pretty much the same age and career vs career you would take Rory all day long. To be fair though, if the two of them could get some sort of rivalry going I think that it could only be good for golf. Let’s add JT in there to the the Gary Player to Brooks and Rory’s Nicklaus and Palmer and things would be fantastic.

Brooks does himself no favors by saying stupid things. Jack and Tiger never said stupid things. Not a fan. Rory is great for the game; remember Arnie said he wants to be remembered for growing the game. Nothing is more important than the game....something silly Brooks needs to learn. Not a fan.

I haven't really seen a true rivalry in years. Maybe when Jack first hit the tour and faced Arnold. Tom Watson and Jack perhaps for a period. Too many good players for there to be a rivalry between 2 players.

FWIW, do,y’all remember the 2003-2007 Vijay-Tiger era...

They were setting the world on fire with Goosen, Phil and Ernie lighting it up as well...

Vijay had one of the greatest stretches in history, eclipsed only by Woods and Nicklaus and perhaps stints by Johnny Miller and Lee Trevino...

This was such an underrated few years...I think Vijay won over $10M in one year...and took over the number one ranking....10 million dollars is ludicrous...

I still don’t think we appreciate how great the early 2000s were from a viewer standpoint....

I'll say it - Brooks is a clown. Find the guy completely insufferable. More objectively, Rory's body of work up to this point is superior, Brooks has played better over the past few seasons but has work to do to catch Rory from an overall career perspective.

And what do you mean, got on a hot run? He won 4 majors in 4 years. That’s pretty much exactly what BK has done. And for BK, he has 2 PGAs. No masters, no Open.

And you sure he is not going to hit a drought? Tiger and Jack both had 2 year droughts right in their primes.

I’m all for BK winning, I always like a winner. But he just sounds defensive and lacking in professionalism pointing out Rory hasn’t won a Major.

Sure, it’s “true”. Tiger and Jack could have said all kinds of bush league stuff about their competitors. But they never did. Not once.

And Brooks probably thinks Jack Nicklaus is washed up because he hasn't won a major in over 30 years.
