First Time Playing By Myself

I played alone for the first time at a golf course down the road from my house. Man was it relaxing. I made some of the most beautiful shots I have ever hit. One in particular, there is a downed tree on the course that they leave there as an extra obstacle. Of course I drove right behind it off the tee. I could have very easily kicked the ball past the tree but thought that I would see how my flop shots looked. I get out my 58 SW and watched as the ball went straight up and over right in front of the green, one more chip onto the green within 3 feet of of the hole for a par. Best shot I hit all day, out of many great shots. I should have been doing this a long time ago.

Playing alone can be relaxing and sometimes I can focus a little bit better. What I really like about playing alone is that it is a great way to practice.

Even though I wouldn't want to do it all the time I love playing by myself. Never putt when I play alone, always take the balls off the green and practice my chipping. I'll hit 2-3 balls a shot and like you stated it is very relaxing to just be outside on the course.

Love it. When it's hot here in Dallas summers, I go out a couple hours before dark, usually get to play solo, play 2 maybe 3 balls a hole, it's so peaceful and relaxing and good practice.

I sometimes go out for 9 by myself after spending a couple of hours at the range. I try to take what I was working on to the course, and hit multiple shots to see what works best so when I actually play the next time Iโ€™ll maybe have some different options. I only do this when the course is empty.

Walk with electric trolley. No different from when I'm playing in a group. Never had a problem with tee times. I'll sometimes make a group if others happen to be waiting at the tee but otherwise just rock up, tee off and go.

> Biggest problem I have with playing alone is knowing where I hit them. It's not a huge problem but I'd say that I fail to track around a third of my driver shots. All I can do is hope for the best and start checking an arc of around ~200 yds from the tee :-/

ย

This is my biggest issue. Once, I didn't see where it went, so I hit a second, didn't see it either. Went out into the fairway to find either one, found both balls within a few yards of each other. :-)

Play alone quite a bit at my club. Some because of the fact that I either go out very early in the day or very late in the day when I'm not setting up a game. It means I can play more than one ball if I want and there's nobody to hold up, and it gives me a nice little time to just be. I generally throw in an earbud or have my phone playing music out of my bag as I walk along.

It always amazes me how many really good shots one can make when playing alone. I think it's because there's no pressure whatsoever, no one to critique your shots, & you know you can't post the score. Unfortunately, there is no one around to enjoy your great round of golf but yourself. And that's okay, you know what you are capable of, if only........

I used to walk the course solo as the firat dew sweeper at the course I worked at, then would shower and go work in the proshop. I play quicker than most and would finish in under 3 hours. I score better when playing solo. I only have about 3 people I would go out of my way to schedule a tee time with, so most of my golf is played early or getting paired up at the first tee.

If anything can go right, it might!

I love playing alone and during the week with no one out there. Hate waiting behind golfers, it's horrible. Besides loving playing two balls, get two rounds in for the price of 1.

It is by far the best practice available if the course is empty. Before the rules were changed I did play solo rounds adhering to the rules of golf and entered them for my handicap. I found that I scored similarly wherther I played alone or with others. With daylight fading this time of year I try to get to the range for a while and then play 9 holes alone late afternoon while there is light.

I probably ply 50% of my golf alone. I stay 300 yards from the first tee of my club and with daylight lasting until around 10.30pm with us in the summer, after dinner I will quite often head up for 9-12 holes just to get outside and moving. Some times it can be a little quiet but most of the time itโ€™s really enjoyable. I will quite often pop on a podcast and just take a couple of hours to play some golf and decompress after a day at work.

Big fan of playing on my own. Especially summer evenings! Every once in a while I'll have the course to myself and the sun gets low and it's just the nicest time to be out there.

ย

I played a great round on my own two days ago at my father's club. He had to bail, but he called ahead and they let me out. I had the whole place almost to myself because it was overcast and in the 40s, but I was happy as could be. I played 1 ball totally legit by-the-book, but occasionally dropped balls on approach shots and putts just to see if I could do better. Had a rough go on the front, but it came together nicely at 10 and the back 9 flew by. Walked off with a 42 on the back, which is a best for me on that course. Now I just have to learn to put 2 good 9s together. Such a damn shame that the season's ending up here.
