This should be an exciting wee. I expect crowds to be fairly large. There are 30 KLPGA members in the field, so we get a chance to see some of the local talent. There are 15 of the World's Top 20 in the field. Sung Hyun, Nasa, Lexi, and Inbee are sitting out.

Thursday and Friday look like their going to be wet, but things should dry out for the weekend. Temps will be chilly in the morning, but push near 70 in the afternoon.

TV coverage is good news, bad news. We'll get 8 1/2 hours of coverage for the first two rounds, and 7 hours on the weekend, but it's tape delayed over 12 hours. 'Going to be difficult to avoid spoilers.

My pick this week is Hye Jin Choi. She's had a fantastic season on the KLPGA, and I'm sure she'd love to secure an LPGA card with a win. Ayean Cho should also be in the hunt. I think Ariya might surprise.

Good question. Sung Hyun played 3 weeks ago at the VoA, and two weeks ago in Korea at the Hite Jinro Championship. She didn't play last week in Shanghai or in Korea at the KB Championship, so she should be rested.

Nice to see Minjee at the top of the leaderboard. After a hot start to the season, she cooled off quite a bit. Jin Young, Danielle, and 6ix had very nice opening rounds as well. There are four KLPGA regulars in the top 10, and 7 in the top 20, so they're holding their own, no surprise.

As expected, it was cold and wet for the first round. 'Plenty of rain and cold weather gear.

Sucks having the coverage tape delayed until late this afternoon.

True. Watching the majority of the tourney on the livestream, but wouldn't dare give details to avoid being a buzzkill to those waiting for the tape-delay.

Blending a bit of the old with the new going into 2024

Exciting first round. I love seeing LPGA in Korea. We see the best players, from all countries, with THE big, enthusiastic galleries they deserve. Anyway, I am back viewing this week after my provider, KAYO, decided not to show the Shanghai event last week.

The young Korean, Lee7 and Hye Jin Choi, are two of my favourite players. I heard the Aussie commentators say that Choi is 2nd in driving distance on the KLPGA with....252 yards. Can that be true? Frankly, I don't believe it. Typo error in their briefing note! Immediately after they said that she knocked a couple out 270+. I saw her chasing down Jin Young Ko at the 2018 Australian Open, and she hit a 270 m (300 y) drive and then 230 m (255 y) 3-wood to reach a par 5. There was no wind assistance.

Despite my adoration for Choi and Lee6, go Minjee!!

Definitely a typo, or more likely they didn't note that it was in meters (273 yds). Hye Jin is a fairly long hitter. Edit: they corrected themselves, noting that it should be in meters.

Curious if she'll give the LPGA a go. As they mentioned, she's won four times this year. She'll lock up the money title, and then???

I'm liking the coverage so far. Plenty of players featured, although it can always be better.

Lol. Karen is not in the booth. This is the Australian crew.

Edit: Oops, sorry Kaysquare. My bad. It is Karen. Alison isn't helping things. They're both quite chatty.

No, Karen. Danielle hasn't always been consistent. If anything, her inconsistency was holding her back. She was very prone to blow up holes in her first few years on tour.

Jin Young is sneaky long. She outdrove Hye Jin and Danielle on most holes.

That was some excellent coverage. Excessive yakking aside, we saw a ton of shots. The commercial breaks were ~2 minutes in length, and there was a minimum of fluff pieces, so it was almost nonstop golf. The late finishing players got the worst of the weather, but they still managed some good scoring. Hoping for more tomorrow.

Er...em...I meant Lee6! There is no Lee7 that I know of, despite the preponderance of Lees!!

Interesting leaderboard. I won't post names until today's round has aired, but it's turning into a great battle between the LPGA regulars and the KLPGA regulars. Heck, maybe they should have had a tournament within a tournament and had an LPGA vs. KLPGA team event.

The weather appears to have gotten better.

Happy for her:

“I didn't even look at the car because I didn't even know I made a hole-in-one. When I asked my caddie he said, “It's the nicest one. That's the one you want."

@kristengillman made her first ever ace Friday and was awarded a @BMWE82 as her prize.
