What Drivers Have You Played This Year?

I was at the range today and thinking how I’ve come full circle this season with my driver. Started in January with the G400 Max and am back to it today. My driver list this season goes:

Ping G400 Max

Callaway Rogue Sub Zero

Cobra F9

Taylormade M5

Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero

Taylormade M5 (different one than the earlier one)

Ping G410 Plus

Ping G410 LST

Ping G400 Max (different one than the first one)

Clearly I have a problem. Don’t even get me started on the different shafts I’ve gone through.

What have you used this season and which did you end up liking the best.

One driver and shaft combo all year. Unheard of for me.

Cobra F9 with a Tour AD TP7S.

I have settled on a shaft for a few months now, Tensei Orange. But before that, at least 10 different shafts.

Started the year with my trusty 910 D2, which I've been playing since Edison invented the light bulb. Got a Rogue with Evenflow Blue that lasted all of one week. It was long and wrong for my swing, as I visited a number of forests on the right side of the courses I was playing far too often.

Then I found the TS2. Home. I have three shafts for it, but just one is on it 99% of the time (Diamana Whiteboard). Is the TS2 the longest driver out there? No idea. It's long enough for me and the ball goes to where I want it to go. It's like the 910 D2 with a much, much larger sweet spot (I'm not actually convinced it is not much more than say 10 yards longer than the 910 D2).

I have gamed a pair of Titleist 905 series drivers, both 9.5 degrees in the T and S models. My current gamer is a Taylormade M3 9.5 degree. All three drivers have Graphite Design Tour AD DI 6S shafts.

Will probably upgrade to a G400 in a few years when they cost $100.

910 D2 with Diamana D+ x5ct to begin the year. Been playing this driver since the dawn of man. Decided to “upgrade”. Went with an M6 with Smoke shaft. Great numbers but did not like the feel, swapped shafts to a Tensei blue pro. Still did not love it. Tried a TS3 with an Even Flow T1100 and it was like putting on a familiar glove. Looking forward to the next 8-10 years with his combo!

915D3 w/ Accra tz6 m4. Played with Diamana white board, blue board, tried the tensei white. Accra is very consistant and smooth relative to everything else and makes for a really well balanced big stick.

I have thoughts of hoing it up with an '16 M2 fuji pro, or cally rogue or something. With this shaft, those thoughts disappear once im walking off a tee box.

I’m still playing a ‘16 m2 with the stock fuji shaft. Tried 6 or 7 different shafts this year and nothing can beat the consistency of the stick set up. Might just be in my head though.

You and a lot of other people have the same opinion. It might not be in your head haha.

Man, I don't understand how you all can cope with switching clubs with such frequency, much less the cost of acquiring all of them.

I've been playing the Cleveland Launcher HB (2018) that I won from WRX all season. Before that, I played a Cobra S9-1 Pro S that had been in the bag for 4 years.

Clearly, my budget and philosophy don't call for switching drivers very often.

Was a great year for me in drivers, but TS3 is here to stay.

Ping G, 913 d2, Epic Flash, 917 d2 (three different shafts) and I'm still not settled.

I finished last season with a Callaway Big Bertha Alpha

This year I bought an R15 and a Wilson D300. The R15 won that, pending a new shaft to try in the Wilson. I'm pretty content with driver right now. A solid gamer, a reliable backup.

One, Cobra F9 Speedback. Prior to that I used a Titleist 913 D2 ever since that club was released. Once I get comfortable I don't switch until absolutely necessary.

In the past I average 4-5 different ones.

The last two years:

Ping G400 max 9 degree with the stock stiff shaft.

Havent even looked at another driver, havent tried any others. No need. Its the best driver I've ever hit by a long shot.

I have to say, I agree about the max. After trying so many different drivers this year, when I hit the max it is just so easy to make it do what you want. Sure it isn’t the longest but boy is it straight and forgiving.

Played GBB epic for a while..very long but switched to Ping Gmax 400. Gmax was almost as long but a little more forgiving..anyone looking at drivers has to give the Gmax a try..

TM M6! I had the M4 and just wasn’t happy, but really have liked the M6. Now I just need to unload the M4 driver head and will be all set to go.

Played a bio cell for a few years and bought a Callaway Rogue 2 months ago. I'm back in the Cobra.

Been keeping an eye out for a cheap F9 head.

I have been playing a Ping G15 10.5 degree regular flex driver for years and have tried several Ping, Callaway, Titleist and other drivers but found no reason to switch from the Ping G15. It may be because I am a senior golfer with an 85 mph swing and I also dislike the idea of an adjustable club (no moving parts). When the face on the G15 cracks reducing performance I will have to get serious about replacing it.

Had the GBB Epic and cracked the face. Had to switch to the Flash which i did not care for. Finally got rid of the Epic Flash for the G410 LST. So far so good. I loved the Epic though.....

Bridgestone Tour B JGR is crazy good and forgiving.

I attended a “demo-day” in May. I hit the Titleist, Ping, and Taylor Made drivers. I purchased the Taylor Made M5 with a Mitsubishi Tensei orange shaft.

Ping G25. With a Ping Stiff shaft. Just like last year. And the year before. And the year before. I figure every bad shot is my fault, and buying a new driver will not improve my swing.

Have played a Callaway BBA DBD for years now with stock Aldila Rogue shaft. Decided to get a fitting this year and was recently fit into Epic Flash with GD Tour AD IZ shaft. I’m not 100% sold on the fitting parameters but whatever....trackman said it could get me 40 yards. Went ahead and got it anyway. I haven’t been able to play the driver on the course yet. On the range it feels more consistent but I can’t tell that it is any longer. I didn’t believe the 40 yard claim anyway, but was hard to say “no” after a $100 fitting etc.

We will see how it plays on the course, if it ever stops raining and/or if my pinched nerve ever heals.

TaylorMade M5 ... jury still out, but I'm sensing a pattern here.

Liked the old D3 but distance was lacking. Cobra F9 was nice but especially spinny for me. TS3 was awesome and I'm not sure I should have abandoned it. Hot face, solid feel, great looks. I'm still putting the M5 through it's paces but seems similar to TS3 in terms of results. Looks, sound and feel are totally different, but not in a bad way. More solid, thudy sound. TS3 slightly more tingy.
