Help with Scotty Cameron MODEL needed please

Matillac

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I'm having trouble identifying which model this would be. Scotsman 941? Classics Coronado? Studio Design 1? Circa 62-1? and with these old style hand stamps would it be considered a Garage model?

I can't figure out exactly what I'm looking at here but not questioning the authenticity.

Any help from the SC experts out there would be greatly appreciated!ofvn4f2dof44.jpg

“Can’t figure out what I’m looking at here, but not questioning its authenticity.”

There are far better experts than me on here, but I see red flags all over. Most specifically where the neck meets the head, and the stamping looks shallow/ non standard.

If it were me, I’d send it to Scotty and have him authenticate it. You’re talking about selling a $2,000+ putter. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to cheat someone with a fake putter. Your selling price would be higher with a COA as well, so it would be a win-win.

Also, can you give us background on how you obtained this prefect condition circle T putter? Might help to give us some background story.

I bought a large collection of Scotty's (About 20 putters and 20 additional NOS head covers) from a friend/business associate, former CEO of a very large corporation. All of them never gamed and authentic as I have sold quite a few of them already and have a few more listed currently. I don't want to break any forum rules so can't post a link. I thought the same as you regarding the stamping, especially compared to all the other clubs in the collection but during my research I came across what were called "garage" putters and the stamping from those looks very similar. So like I said, I'm really not questioning the authenticity, just the model name. I do agree this one is probably worth sending in for a COA though. Do you know what the turnaround time is for that?

Thanks for the response.

IMO the more stubby tail says it's a Circa I tour. Pretty cool stick, probably worth the COA if you intend to sell. COA usually takes about a month, but can take longer for a more special stick. With this not having any initials or markings indicating a player it would probably be a quicker turnaround on certification.

Thanks Ckay, If Bill doesnt deem my questions about the putter worthy of a response that is on him to decide and as I don't know him I'd never pass judgement and understand he probably has much more important things to do and worry about than my run of the mill no certificate having putter that I simply posted on this forum to find out some information on.

You say there's no point in a COA and no point emailing someone that was suggested by a helpful member on this forum as an expert that could possibly help me with my question.

There's not a point to a lot of things in life Ckay. Negative posts on forums being one of them.

Can I invite you to my next party? You seem like a lot of fun!

Cool putter

only thing that seems odd is the shallow sole stamping, especially the jester. The face doesn't look like it, but I wonder if this has been restored at some point? Or perhaps it started out as black ox/oil can and was refinished with pro plat. Hard to say for sure, as the face milling and stamping suggest it has not been restored.

In any case, nice putter.

My point is that a COA won’t add any monetary value to the worth of that putter. It is clear as day that it is an authentic tour putter based on a Circa 1 head design.

Vog is an expert when it comes to handmades but probably won’t add anything of value other than what I had just said about your putter.

You’re quick to make fun of me about not being such a “fun” person but maybe you should grow thicker skin rather than getting pissy.

I essentially told you what the putter was in my first post, and also saving you the trouble of finding Vog’s contact info.

My skin is plenty thick (I have psoriasis) lol. I wasn't so much getting pissy as just taking a piss (As my London friends say) But at any rate, I thank you for the information and especially the link to the page showing it's registered. You certainly didn't need to do that after my smart ass reply to your earlier dry but straightforward replies. My apologies and you are sincerely invited to my next party. Drinks on me!

Right on ckay!! The only reason I mentioned Vog is because of circle T Tour Cameron's I have had that without his help I would of been screwed. He is an incredibly kind to anyone and answers his emails daily. Thank you ckay for finding it's authentication on the registry.
